I love the complexity and depth of the game, but the part that kills me is that you're "forced" to sit through the entire game, which is typically 40+ minutes. It can be especially suffering when you're losing - I also understand that the game is like this due to certain hero picks requiring late game, never give up mentality, etc. so it's necessary I guess.

Depends too much on your teammates rather than singular skill. Even one bad teammate can cost you the game and since I was playing mostly solo que, the odds of you having a competent team was too rare.

No solo queue.
MOBA's are incredibly fun to get into the first 100 or so hours. The theorycrafting and all the potential heroes and builds to try make it incredibly fun.
However, once you get into any respectable level ranking it becomes more and more toxic. It's not THAT bad, but it's not a game you want to play more than 1 or 2 games in any given session.
That and overwatch is much more fun right now.

I started getting into it again.
I bought the compendium for a couple of reasons, one main reason was the gardens terrain, it looked so damn pretty. I leveled to lvl 29 and I figured I would have enough time to make it in time.
One day after the Manila Major started I go ingame only to get a message that time is running out and that I can only get this terrain before the Major ends.
Now this totally killed it for me. At this point I fully realized how jewish Valve has become. I didn't care about hats, I didn't care about arcanas. But this was the final nail in the coffin, maybe I was blind until now but now I can see again.
I will likely never, ever touch this game again, and I played it for 5k hours over the last 5 years. Feels fucking bad man.
Invoker was being picked literally every game in the lower to mid 5k bracket.
Most other of the wildly batshit changes we've had in the past years have all had downfalls in some sort of way but that 4 month (probably a little less) period where he was spammed like a fucking machine gun pretty much turned me off of the game. I remember someone on /v/ made a good post about why his issues were and why he ended up being buffed awhile ago.
Oh well, at least it's still fun to watch BSJ tilt every other game.

Dota fans are weird. They've been playing the same game on the same map for around a decade. My dota fan friends always just seem to wish they were playing dota instead when we play anything else. It seems addictive.
I got placed at 4.2k mmr when it first came out in solo, never really considered grinding up there - it was just to see how I did, you know? For the most part I was ok with it, wasn't a big deal.
Fast forward a few years and I think I'm competent enough to get to 5 k and I did, I ended at 5112 and the main motivation for it was "I want to play with better players". Let me tell you about something involving dota. Every game there's about 6 or 7 retards (some games you are the retard) with 4 or 3 people divided evenly or evenly on each team and it's up to them to carry the rest of the team. This is just dota now I guess.
Being truthful, 5112 mmr isn't even that great, but Dota mmr gives off this illusion that every higher bracket will be different, in same way when in reality you're gonna have the same people, just on possibly different roles. It's a illusion.

long story short: i had to swap my pc which was able to keep 60 fps with medium-low quality to shitty laptop that runs at 20 fps with minimum quality.
