I think I have only beaten the game on Normal 1 or 2 times. The fucking Green Devil or what-it-is is so fucking boring when you fight it on the difficulty it is meant to played on.
game with shit controls, shit collision detection, that kill you off screen or with randumb invisible traps? Man, that's actually a lot, nearly all branded shovelware qualitfy. From the top of my head, you can try Tintin in Tibet, TMNT on NES, basically any non mario platformer on the Game boy. Also phone and flash games by millions.

Pretty much artificial difficulty, making it harder for no reason. Maybe they wanted you to plan your jumps more strategically or something, which in a game involving so many leaps of faith into the unknown hoping to reach an off-screen platform is just great
You eventually get used to it, I guess. At least you can use ground pounds to stop more or less where you want

This game as well as the NES version. Both were an living nightmare.
I would also like to add that Nemo the Dream Master, despite being aimed at kids, was completely unforgiving and devoid of all mercy. However, it was fun.
