Actually it's the exact type of game that gets good reviews from Western journalists. A quirky Japanese game without heavy and overt in its fanservice (especially with some of it being removed/toned down for the US release) that banks on Japanese culture so people can talk about how great it is at catching themes, tons, and environments they know absolutely nothing about. The gameplay is also actually decent to good which makes it harder for them to shit on it compared to bargain big Compile Heart jRPGs.
