Shinon is actually better if you count RD.
Rolf is actually mediocre as a unit in PoR but he gets a great weapon unique to him and has more time to grow than Shinon in a game where you can't get rng-screwed (bexp).
So even though Shinon is shit in PoR l, since hes he best archer in RD, he's more worth it to invest on than Rolf in PoR.
That being said archers range from being terrible to mediocre units and Shinon is good even without the PoR bonus in RD so why even bother?

I love V, Thracia, 7, Sacred Stones, the GC/Wii ones, but i cant swallow these new ones. Awakening have somewhat good mechanics (pairing is intersting), but map design and character development isnt for my taste. I even didnt bother with fates or the wii u one after playing Awakening.

It's why Birthright is the only one with a somewhat passable story, even though a lot of things got dropped or changed. I don't know what the deal was with conquest though.

Strongest/best swordsman in all of Tellius and his fighting prowess and sword skills were wanked to hell and back in 3 games with Awakening calling him a "Unparalleled Warrior". No other lord was wanked on that much and Ike was proven capable of fighting without blessing and a regular sword. Ashera was just overpowered in lore.

Lorewise, the Elibe holy weapons are the strongest given that they fucked up the world by merely being swung around, Roy's army has all 9 of them.

They're just raw power with Laguz kings/royals and war veterans from Mad King's war from 3 years prior. The only power they received is at the end of RD is just blessed weapons by Yune to fight Ashera's buffed up bosses, they're not blessed themselves like BK's armor to be invincible.

However, those three aren't holy weapons per see, so it ends up being a question: which one is stronger between two Holy Dragons, an usable Binding Shield and Falchion and three lesser holy weapons against two swords blessed by a goddess and a bunch of laguz royals?

I've tried multiple times but I can only really get into the GBA games. each of them has their strengths and something about them that lets me go back to them again and again.
the console games (4/5/9/10) have More Features but all those features feel poorly implemented or needless complications to the strrategy stuff. also the chapters take way too fucking long (due to being huge in the snes games and due to enemy turns taking forever even with animation off in 9/10)
the DS games are kinda flat because they're weird remixies of NES games and the 3DS games don't really feel like fire emblem to me, they're so full of RPG elements that they feel more like a weird jank version of final fantasy tactics
GBA games have great art, combat that's a bit more pure and strategy based (how to move units, when to use what items and what units to pick) instead of tactics based (spend tons of time setting up item/skill builds for characters and then watching them kill everyone), map design that's not needlessly huge (but still intricate enough for the most part) and they have enough story depth to keep things interesting without going overboard like later games.
call me a pleb if you must, I just can't get into other parts of the series
Why is Ragnell and Alondite revered so much? They're at most good crafted swords blessed to be invincible. At most they gained the ability to shoot shockwaves, but that's it.
They were only a means of fighting other things that were blessed to be invincible like BK armor and mantle. They're not that impressive to consider.

Robin was a self-insert too but he wasn't even that good outside of strategies/tactics. Only special snowflake points he gets is Grima's blood and that doesn't even do him any good and only serves as a means to kill off Grima.
