The whole premise of the soulsborne games is that the story is really vague and practically nonexistent so you can feel more commited to the game.
That's what 2 and 3 did wrong. The beauty of the npcs in 1 was that their "quests" were random encounters and you had to pay attention to them if you wanted to know about the story.
Every adventure game that tries too hard to tell a story eventually becomes shit.
We want gameplay here, and 1 has the best one of those.

It can change the move set of some weapons when they get combined and it also adds new move sets for the power stance itself.That way you can switch from two weapons to power stance and have great flexibility in combat.

Buuut I think Demon's Souls deserves a bit more credit than that. Sure it's grossly incomplete and leaves you wanting more, and world tendency tends to make me scum my deaths to avoid changing it and missing the NPCs, but the world of the game was fantastic and so atmospheric I find myself returning to it and feeling totally rad every time I do. Plus it had best helm and best swamp.

to be fair, a good chunk of people don't rate bloodborne very highly just because of the fact that they haven't been able to play it. of course more people are going to like it if it gets a PC port, it'll be reaching a wider audiencethat said i didn't enjoy bloodborne as much as DaS1 or 3, granted it had great atmosphere and one of the best bosses out of the entire series (ludwig)

I used to be able to play Dark Souls one on PC with my PS3 controller, but sadly I can't find any functioning version anymore, that and I can't configure the PS3 controller either.
I basically managed to convince my computer that the PS3 controller was an XBOX 360 controller, inverting the Triggers and the Buttons of the different controllers, and it was pretty freaking great despite the bad controller.
For me it's BB > DaS > DaS 3 > DaS 2
Haven't played Demon Souls so I can't speak for that.
I borrowed my little brother's PS4 and had him hold off selling it while I played BB.
I enjoyed it more then I thought I would, I really liked the setting, the usable items didn't taper off like they did in DaS and I could wearing a Top Hat and waltz around with a Cane the whole game.
DaS 3 meanwhile felt more of the same which is not bad by any means and had a bit too much pandering in my opinion.
As much as I didn't like DaS2, I can appreciate that it tried to differentiate itself from the original.
DaS 3 felt like it struggled a bit to stand on it's own merits by riding on the pandering.
