MT Framework was retired for the most part a while ago, it's obsolete and later versions did not work well with x86 architecture. It's not good for this gen. They are supposedly developing a replacement but as far as I know it's never seen use in a released product.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a massive performance drop with DMC4SE in comparison to DMC4? It was running one of the last versions of MT Framework produced, it's might be the engine was starting to become a little cumbersome.

DMC4SE added a bunch of (kind of unnecessary) post processing effects and higher quality textures and improved lighting. Not to mention Vergil has abilities that would have absolutely slaughtered last gen framerates.
It can look noticeably better at times and still runs at 60fps/1080p on both consoles. It's not black magic like the vanilla game is, but it's still a very good port. A port designed for PS4 and One however, but a good nonetheless
