The biggest problem with MN9 was that it promised too much.
Too much merch. Putting the game in too many platforms.
Hell, a MN9 anime? 4 Million could only get you so much.
That was Inafune's mistake. So the game suffered as a result.

Bullshit. Every single decision with regard to the game was garbage. If the kickstarter money wasn't enough they could've trivially gotten investors to back them. TW1 could be made on 5m, why couldn't MN9 - a game orders of magnitude simpler?

$4 million is absolutely nothing for a game. Most games cost at LEAST 300 MILLION to make and that's not including marketing. Plus that means they only got about 4 million yen which isn't a lot of money.
>>342169896

>>342169664
Because Inafune isn't a good video game director. Most of the shit he's done is just throw money at a promising project.

Why do reviewers hate Inafune?
>>342170807
They make 55k in real currency money. Inafune could've had 10 devs working for the entire 5 years and still have a third of the initial budget left assuming he was trying to make the game on just the kickstarter money. The thing is, the programming part of the game can and has been done by single people in their basement in their spare time in mere months. In other words, it can't have cost more than $5k to have built the whole game, programming wise. They obviously don't use any mocap, so all animations can't have been more than $10k combined. What's left? Effects design (amateurs do better in hours), level designs and boss designs, shader programming (they're obviously using stock shaders), modeling (again, an amateur makes better models in a couple of days). The production value of the game is a whopping $100k if you're very generous with your funds allocation.
>>342168032
The lesson we learn from Mighty No. 9: Never EVER put Inafune in charge of a project again.
>>342169896
As shit as MN9 will probably be, it's going to be more of a functional video game than Witcher 1 ever was. You should have used the Serious Sam team as an example, and even then that's fall back to the same issue of eastern Europe having borderline slave labor wages.

Inafune was more concerned about building a franchise rather than making a good game.
The game didn't even come out and he began to do work on making a MN9 TV show, MN9 Movie, MN9 Comics, MN9 toys a bunch of MH9 shit while the actual game had been delayed like 3 times.

>>342170170

Not that anon, but:
>Lackluster combat
The dash system is overly simplistic, makes maps too linear, since you have to add enough space for the dashes.
Dashes are mostly pointless againist bosses, becaus eyou just take away damage that would have just being taken off anyways in a normal game
Also, the power-ups you get from dashing through enemies is almost irrelevant, Megaman Zero 4 did the power stealing better years ago. I'd argue axl in the megaman X series was an overall better "power stealer" than MN9
>Bad graphics
Highly unpolished and crude. Nothing is done interestingly to compesate for the simple graphics, fro example, Wonderful 101's characters were pretty simple and small, but in return you got lots of actions, variety on the gameplay and combos.
There you go, two major points.

guess I'll throw out my own thoughts. Firstly I don't think this project was thought all the way through. No one not even inafune himself could have predicted how big the turn out was going to be.
At most he was hoping for a modest steam release perhaps hoping it would garner interest for a bigger sequel backed by a larger company. When he got over $4mil he didn't know what to do with it.
Instead using the money wisely and hiring a more experienced team he stuck with his original team and more than likely the same budget. The extra money went to other projects within his company.

From what I've seen when Jim "the fat balding cuck with a dildo who repeats forum opinions as a job" Sterling played it, it looked fine. Not 10/10, but definitely something that would be worth playing. I can understand why people rate it much lower, though, so would you say it would be worth a sale price at least? It kind of gives me the same vibes of a low budget 90's action side scroller.

No shit. He's a businessman, NOT a developer. He's NEVER been a developer. He assisted with finishing Megaman on the NES, the characters and assets were already designed and everything. All the other boss bots were designed by write-ins from schoolchildren across Japan. He directed the games, but he had NO involvement in their actual design or ANYTHING.
Go! Look! Google! EVERY Japanese developer, when the subject of Inafune comes up, states that he is NOT a game developer but a businessman. Some even come right out and call him a fucking HACK (I think it was Igarashi of Castlevania: SotN (and on) fame).

I can't believe there are apologists seriously saying to lower our expectations for this. Inafune should have at least had idea experience, and especially as a producer, an ability to manage funds more properly as he's the fucking middle man between the suits up top and the developers and designers. He didn't manage shit properly and there is no excuse for his ignorance as he should know better than what he has shown. Anyone defending him is just being a shit apologist in denial or a troll.

The fucking worst part about this game
The absolute worst part
Is that the prototype they had made SEVEN DAYS INTO PRODUCTION looked and played 100x better than the final product. It even looked a bit like the fucking concept art, had the UI and everything.
I'm convinced that Inafune just paid a guy 300k to make the game on his own and fucked off with his buddies to spend the rest of the cash on expensive hookers and fine cigars.

to do the marketing for the physical copies. Inafune could have just stayed with Youtube until then, because the people who "loaned" the money have an expectation to see some kind of return on what was promised. If there was an anticipation on market budgeting, he should have addressed that in the base minimum value for the kickstarter, which he didn't, making him a bad businessman.

I usually like when people can have unfiltered ideas to express their pure intents for something, but I have to admit these days that yielding to the power of teamwork which helps defeat enemies in shounen series also helps in designing an intelligent game, and Inafune should definitely learn to deal with this instead of being an egotistical idiot who wants to make his own "brand".

He's a BUSINESSMAN, NOT a creator, developer, or ANYTHING else that's involved in the making of a game beyond allocating money and telling people they need to hit their deadlines. He wasn't even the original anything of Mega Man, the ORIGINAL designer left due to illness and Capcom shoved his ass in with only months left in making it to make certain it's make the deadline!
THIS IS KNOWN FACT PEOPLE. WHY DID ANYONE TRUST HIM WITH CASH TO MAKE A GAME WHEN HE DOESN'T MAKE GAMES AND NEVER HAS.
>>342168032
This game will be a cult classic in two years, tops

MN9, Metroid, Halo....
That's it. We need an another crash.
An big crash enough to bankrupt 99% of game companies, sony and nintendo.

You can't say reviews are untrustworthy shit and then post reviews as if they were trustworthy.
These guys are known to trash games for not paying them

Well these are the questions that naturally arise. What are his motives? What are his goals? What has he done (truthfully)? Why is crowdfunding not his final solution? Why did he not try to get rehired in some role for some game whocareswhat? Fucking gullible faggots!
ITS BECAUSE HE WANTED MONEY FUCK THE FANS
>>342182801
ign and the like are not trustworthy because they rate modern games too high
isn't it something to note when a game doesn't get even a 7 in today's ratings scale?
>>342182856
You didn't even play it. Who the fuck trusts reviewers?

Looks like shit, disinterested. Does anyone actually need to play it before casting their opinion? Some will some wont. No one should be convinced to play a game that looks like shit if they have to pay for it. They don't have to play it unless you're paying for it you fucking MIDF.

Did Inafune kill the MML3 project to gain notoriety for MN9?
I can see that.
>>342183467
could this be the beginning of megamanlegends3gate?
>>342183467
Capcom killed it. Inafune used the cancellation to get pity and try to play the victim.
>>342176517
Will it have a Biscuit Blake outfit?
Anyone worried about how similarly bad Bloodstained looks? Like how it's too bright, how the running and jumping looks so stiff? How bland enemies look etc
>>342183815
I stopped being hyped for Bloodstained when I saw they were going with 2.5D style of graphics rather than traditional SNES style sprites.
>>342176186
The only people who are still in GG are Zoe's sockpuppets she uses to harass herself for victim points.

After the first 3 point deduction, it eats into the fucking integrity of the game. Average doesn't cut it for kikestarter.
I know pretty much nothing about this.
For the sake of arguement let's say I am willing to put up with low spec graphics. Is there anything really bad about the game? Like are the levels well designed? Is there any advancement in MM's complexity? With the limited graphics do they at make good environments and set a nice atmisphere?
>>342176662
Definitely not his inability to properly manage money. Maybe the fans for not kissing his ass for every decision he made, even when it was a blatantly wrong one.
>>342184294
There were two instances in Inafune's career that were similar to the demo of MML3. He poured so much money into the demos of Dead Rising and Lost Planet, against his superior's wishes, that their superiors would have lost face for cancelling such a costly project. Of course, this turned out well for them since Dead Rising and Lost Planet both did at least well enough to get 2 sequels each. However, this had been the 3rd time Inafune had tried to pull this off, so it is speculated that Capcom grew wise to his strategy.
In other words. Painfully average.
I liked Duke Nukem Forever and that game generally scored lower than this.
