Crinoids, they're related to starfish and urchins. Today they're not as common because they get btfo by more advanced filter feeders and most of their species live in the abyss but in the past the ocean was over-saturated with them.
There were so many god damn crinoids you find fossilized layers entirely composed of them, which is why Gamefreak made them a fossil mon.

In real life the stalked ones only rarely move when they sense a predator, so the idea that something that barely moves yet can move very easily if it feels like it is also creepy.

Snipe eels don't have the distinctive dorsal fin and their jaw is as enlongaded as the upper snout.
Gorebyss mouth is located under the snout, like a chimera, it also has sensory wiskers like a Chimera.
Huntail is also more likely a dragon fish, viper fish or an oarfish. It's colors and patterns are that of an oarfish, but it's head structure is more like a dragon fish.
