I'm also curious as to how this whole "choose your faction" thing goes. I don't think I've seen a single person be excited to play as Vikings so if it's just Samurai Vs Knights the player base will be very divided.
The sound was awful in the gameplay they showed at E3. When they hit each other with swords it sounded like a wet sausage. Not to mention it's ubisoft so it's going to be downgraded a tonne. I'm gonna skip this.

Vikings: Dane Axe, Spear and Shield, Shield and Sword
Knights: Polaxe, Longsword, Shield and Flail
Samurai: Katana, Nodaci, Kanabo
If we get a fourth for each faction I'm guessing dual hand axes, warhammer, and yari/naginta. To be honest though I think it's more likely it's been cut down to 3 with the fourth maybe coming in the season pass.

The final day was the only time it was fun because Throwing Star spam and the overpowerd Poison were hilarious. Chasing people down with the absurdly far reaching running attack and ganging up on shitters was only fun for so long.

If you are outnumbered you need only focus on the attack that will hit you first. If you parry that attack it will parry all attacks for a few frames. What can be done to make your number advantage more effective is to swing a heavy attack in one direction while your ally throws a light attack in another direction. If they react to the wrong attack they'll be in a world of hurt.
I enjoyed the mechanic, myself, and can attest that it's very possible to come out the Victor in a 1v3 which is an extremely rewarding feeling.

There are times when it's best to gang up (breaking the enemy team) and times when it's best to split up (contesting multiple points).
The way dominion worked was that so long as 1 enemy is on the control point neither team will get points. So it was a decent move to contest a point even if outnumbered 1v4 because you could stop that team from getting points. Now on the other side of that coin you shouldn't expect the 4 players to wait their turn to duel you 1v1 while your team holds the other points and is getting rewarded for taking their sweet time to duel you.
Keep in mind that, as long as you keep your cool, it's completely possible to fend off two enemy warriors at once.

Not only is it possible to do under normal circumstances but you also have feats that unlock as you play. The arrow storm, the heal ability, the poison knife, etc. These (ok, the poison was OP) aren't gamechangers by themselves but can quickly turn the table in your favor. I know people think it sucks to be hunted down by 2 or 3 people but what's funnier is when you are chasing 2 or 3 people as a lone unit. Which brings me to another point. You are worth points to kill, there's no shame in tactical retreats to a friendly control point where you'll regenerate health.

Winning offsided fights with a combination of skill, setting, and luck was an absolute rush. Throwing people into walls of spikes, letting them bash each other in a narrow hall, parrying the blow of an opponent you haven't locked onto. Haters are going to say unfair fights ruin the game, but I found them exhilarating.

It's a fun multiplayer game at the core.
The first few weeks were great, even. Then the CoD community infected it, and went found a way to break the combat mechanics, thus forcing everyone who wanted to not get wrecked by unblockable hits to learn those exploits too.
When I realized that I'll never play without having to see [Uchiha]XxDarkGamerxX spinning and glitching around me, I quit.

In the interest of full honesty I'm not a shill, I don't get paid, but I enjoyed the Alpha quite a bit so correcting erroneous statements in a For Honor thread is only in the hope that people won't be pushed away by the lies and will give a genuinely fun game a chance.

I asked some of the developers at E3 and played both single player demos. Couldn't play a female viking raider, so I don't know if that particular character is an exception to the rule or just wasn't finished yet. The knight mission you could choose male or female and the devs confirmed skin tone customization.

But they're completely different games
Warband is a strategy/sim/action whatever you want to call it, and Chiv is a first person melee slasher (or if you want to be an archer faggot you can do that too)
I prefer Chiv personally because the skill ceilling is higher due to the """"exploits""""" and real time swing manipulation, rather than (in my opinion of course) less enjoyable directional attacking

I really like the idea of samurai vs vikings vs knights and want to play a cute female knight who wrecks savages, but my god the combat from that viking demo looked shit. Hopefully it feels better to play, but since it's Ubisoft I don't have high hopes.

Don't know yet. That's what I'm most curious about. Jason makes it sound like you can consistently be the same faction, I personally don't see them letting you mix/match a team on multiplayer (though the alpha let you so I could be wrong) but if you're locked into a faction then I can see that giving huge numerical advantage to certain groups.
So I'd go with I'm wrong and you can mix/match.

Join tournaments, win dosh, buy butter, take it over there, sell it for more!
Download Floris, enlist in a lords army, climb the ranks.
You can't go wrong with warband really, except a few people with the whole multiplayer issue.

Not trying to come off as a prick but have you played a musou before? It's similar to that. The minions do play a decent role in slowing you down but they aren't a threat in and of themselves. The heroes are the meat of the experience but combined they're at times disastrous .
The horde can be your refuge if you retreat to it, they'll fill your control points with something for the enemy to clear and defend you if in close proximity (not really defend, just also attack things next to you at a slower rate but if that happens to be a hero it can be a godsend)
