Why do people do this?
As people have stated before, gg is like the handshake after a little league baseball game. It doesn't matter how much you got curbstomped, you do it and move on with your life.
I always say gg after a game no matter how good or bad the game. To me it's the virtual equivalent to the above handshake.

Shit man i get really mad at fighting games and arena shooters like fucking super salty like a child sometimes but i don't blame my enemy ill rarely blame the game and usually just get mad at myself for being so shit and improve.
I've always hated the stigma of team based games. They have the potential to bring people together but more then often it just takes shitters who can't handle 1 v 1 competitive games and blame their teammates like they're the picture of perfection.

I feel like a dick sometimes but im genuinely disappointed in my performances. Maybe it comes from playing fighting games and arena shooters where its very easy to see your mistakes after years of play so i can see my mistakes in every game i play the second i make them.
It must hurt some peoples pride but its not going to stop me from wanting to get better at any game in my favorite hobby.

Just because you can't reach the peak of something in terms of satisfaction doesn't make the levels of satisfaction you will feel normally bad. That is like quitting life itself because you have a moment you feel will never be surmounted.
