It's a good game. I don't play it because it has one of the worst communities of any game out there. Region locking the servers would help, but I just can't have fun when 95% of the player base are Peruvians or Brazilian.

I have a number of major complaints, the main one being that the game has no placement matches to put you into high tier matches faster. So I played 80 games against absolute garbage people, and won 80% of the games (15% of the time it was a draw, everyone AFKed). It was a silly exercise in patience, considering that I could not find anyone playing the game competently I never got to experience the game in it's earnest. The game is fine for casuals though.

Dota 2 has much slower gameplay than League of Legends. The disables are longers, the dashes, and blinks are slower, you have to buy flash, an ability that League of Legends gives you are the start of the match for free. You lose gold on deaths, heavily enforcing low risk play. You can deny creeps in lane, encouraging high control lane match ups. The map buffs are underwhelming, giving people little reason to make plays, or teamfights.

My point is that it is a good thing when people improve upon old formulas. Dota 2 is the same as Dota. It does not mix up the old formula, or change how it works, it just makes the same game twice. League of Legends totally does take the concept of Dota, and make it's own changes that radically affect how the game works. It is okay to copy the good parts of something to make a better product.

Lane control to a point where the environment is extremely low risk, and a exceptionally good player is difficult to pick out from a average player makes it a more casual experience. In League of Legends, a diamond player will put a silver player a 5/0 100 cs lead by 20 minutes. In dota 2 this is often not the case. The line between a average, and exceptional player being fuzzy is great for a casual game since we don't want to make people upset. League of Legends is not that kind of game, if someone is better than you than you are going to get the shit kicked out of you, and feel bad for it.
When you compare Baron to Roshan, and the impact it has on the game, Roshan is underwhelming. Elder dragon is almost as huge of a deal as Baron when enough stacks are built up. There is no incentive to go for Roshan in the early game. League of Legends has the Rift herald, and the elemental drakes that can be taken at five minutes in on certain champions.

League of Legends has a summoner spell called flash, one of two abilities you take in champion select that you use in addition to your champion's kit. It functions the same as a blink dagger, a blink dagger that everyone gets at the start of the match for free. Blink dagger takes time to purchase as opposed to League of Legends handing it out for free with another summoner spell at the start. Dota is a slower game.

League of Legend's progression system unlocks more complicated, and advanced ways of playing the game. Opening different tactics for players to use when they have explored old ones. This will be a long post. Just tl;dr and accept the first part as my answer.
Dota is for purests. Who want a moba designed for people who've been playing them forever. It has just enough new to go with the old to be, Great. Things change but never so drastically that people need step by step directions on how shit works.
LoL, is a game for moba players that want to just kick back with thier 5 stack and have fun. It's nonsense. Some skills Stat scaling is so absurd you'd have to be retarded to think it's balanced. Then you have the characters that in the hands of even a moderately competent players hands are just bat shit insane strong. I'm fucking garbage at the game unless I play one of two characters.. Illaoi or Sion. I have played both of them in every role available they are fucking broken. When you pick Sion jungle and end the game 20 and 2 game after game. You realize he's either broken or you're the best Sion player ever. I'm certainly not the best ever.. and the sheer fact that unless I play him or Illoai, I can't win tells me they are beyond easy to win with. The game is constantly changing and evolving which seems great but when you realize that Riot literally dictates the meta to the players you find it's just not as fun.. people hate him but I think the youtuber Sky Williams hit the nail on the head when talking about whether league is fun.. it's not.. unless you're playing with a 5 stack. I don't play leauge unless I'm in a 5 stack now. I don't I refuse. Randoms 100% of the time are pure garbage.
I have fun with Dota by myself or with friends. The game is balanced enough so that I can carry my team if they're all brain dead. This is just my opinion. I'm sure I'll get a reply or two from Leauge players mad because I kinda shit on leauge but I don't dislike the game I just like it only under a specific light.
