As far as video games go, MGSV was the end of the Konami. If you're talking about the business going under, you'd have to post a picture of Japan making gambling legal.
>>
>>342084857
Konami makes most of their money from Pachinko machines and mobile shit these days.
They are already dead.

HIT THE LEVER
>>
>>342084857
They're fine, they just don't make original videogames anymore. Pachinko, annual PES (Made with the FOX Engine, no less), those gyms and healthclubs they own, plus the occasional port of older games to PSN/XBL/Steam means they'll still be making a tidy profit for a long time to come.
>>
Didnt they make huge profit last quater?
>>
>>342085000
konami has a pretty significant slot division too, if they pivoted quickly to producing them domestically legalized gambling could actually be a windfall for the business
>>
Hopefully they get so desperate they start selling the franchaises, and Kojima can buy MGS back.

Then we get MGSV Director's cut edition.
>>
>>342085000
Doesn't Konami make that baseball game that's really popular in japan?
The one with the chibi style characters?
>>
>>342084857
>"Identifying Fuck Ups" on the bookshelf

<hearty chuckle>
>>
>>342085223
I doubt Kojima would go out of his way to make another MGS game. The man has been tired of the franchise for awhile. Let him move on and see where his mind takes him.

https://www.konami.com/news/en/release/2016/0510/?cm_sp=00-_-release-_-20160510

>KONAMI HOLDINGS CORPORATION hereby announces that the consolidated total revenues and operating profit for the year ended March 31, 2016 were ¥249,902 million (114.6% of the same period in the previous year) and ¥24,679 million (161.2% of the same period in the previous year), respectively.

>61.2% increase in profit

lol

goddamn no wonder gaming is dying in japan
>>
>>342085660
Cause of MGSV ya nut.
>>
what the fuck happened to konami in 2000 that made their stock spike like that?
>>
>>342085902
announcement of MGS2
>>
>>342085902
MGS2 in all likelihood, which was extremely hot property at the time coming off MGS1's success.
>>
Can't they sell the Castlevania franchise to nintendo?
>>
>>342086053
Why would they? Depressingly, those Castlevania-themed pachinko machines make way more money than a Castlevania game on any Ninty platform (Hell, on a Sony or MS platform, too) would.

the end? they're making more now than before not having the investment that a AAA title require. They just don't make videogames anymore (for the most part).

Daily reminder: candy crush saga still makes $200k$ A DAY to this day and costed less than 25k$ to make. They're in the same market now.
>>
>>342085660

Their Pachinko division actually lost money for FY2016, and overall their entire gambling-device divisions made a little more than 10% of the net income their video game division made. Even more interesting, their video game profits increased 210% from FY2015.
>>
>>342086053
Nintendo don't even treat their own 2d franchises with respect, why do you think Castlevania would be any different?

>'""""innovation""""
>>
>>342086159

To further add to this, when companies make financial disclosures like this, they're made in order of significance, so for whatever metric they're using to rank these titles (likely revenue), MGS V had the smallest impact.

Source: I audit financial statements for a living.
>>
>>342086217
They exploit a grey-area in the Japanese gambling ban.
If you want to gamble your only choice is pachislot.
>>
>>342086159
On that link it literally says the net profit on pachislot machines went down while video games went up.
>>
>>342086467
>MGSV worth less than Yu-gi-oh

>>342086467
You act like Konami works logically.

>Leave a market for a much, much more profitable market - gambling
>Old market so self-absorbed they honestly think that not making anything for a market you don't give a shit about is a sign of something bad happening
Must suck to be 12, feels like the world's out to get you. But best of luck in your future op, I'm sure you'll grow up someday

In 2014, Konami paid over $4 million to have their financial statements audited. Yes, when it comes to their financial filings with the SEC and the equivalent Japanese oversight board, you can bet they follow the regulatory guidelines to the letter. And just so you understand this number, this isn't the amount Konami pays its internal accounting department (that number is assuredly much higher). This number is how much Konami pays an external firm to essentially check their work.
>>
>>342084857

Konami supplies slot machines to the West and makes Pachinko. There's no point in keeping Kojima to make games that fall short of expectation every single time when he asks for exorbitant amounts of money to do it.

There's nobody to blame for Kojima getting fired but Kojima.
>>
Doesn't Konami have a real estate subsidiary too? Or something like making shit for cars? Or am I thinking of another vidya company?

They started selling gambling hardware in the US in 2000, you delusional Kojimadrones.
>>
>>342087268
I just want to pretend that me and the things I care about are the center of the universe

is that so wrong

>They started selling gambling hardware in the US in 2000, you delusional Kojimadrones.

Dude, maybe its both?

WHOAH KUH-RAYZEE

MGS2 was fucking the hottest shit when it was announced, bro.
>>
>>342087401

Oh, you mean the business that will eventually crumble when they stop skirting over loopholes and Japan bans pachinko machines for being gambling.
>>
>>342085000
>Japan making gambling legal.
Konami is one of the biggest suppliers of slots in Las Vegas. If anything, that would only make them stronger.
>>
>>342085000
Konami is one of the biggest players for the legalization of gambling, if I recall right.
>>
>>342087759

Sorry that Konami didn't feel like spotting you any more welfare so you could stroke your ego some more Kojima. You have to get over it.

You have a new daddy who doesn't care if they aren't making any profit off your mediocre Jaden Smith tier philosophy games.
>>
>>342087759
>Japan bans pachinko machines
Good fucking luck with that one.
>>
>>342087758
yeah I'm sure investors were just as excited for a japanimu action movie as they were for one of the biggest gaming companies in Japan to enter the biggest gaming market in the world.
