in mobas it really is used sarcastically more often than not. I played LoL for far longer than id like to admit and id venture to say 95% of "gg"s i ever saw were sarcastic.

banter in kids sports is pretty light generally, far lighter than the shit you see online. Maybe if you were a particularly skilled/competitive kid stuff got more intense, but i certainly dont remember any hardcore trash talk in little league.
It would seem to me that the sort of people who are into and skilled enough at sports to get to a point where legit banter is being had, are far and few enough that they dont make up a reasonable portion of the population and thus most people still dont have hardly any experience dealing with banter. I mained Dudley from SSF4 to USF4 and I got a collective total of 7 rose kills. Roses do exactly 1 damage and has quite a long startup on it.
