blame the lighting for flat textures. If you're making textures for a current gen PBR or IBL setup, your textures pretty much have to be flat color because if you have lighting baked down to your albedo it's gonna clash with the lighting from the environment.
that being said, I agree with you.
It's funny how Uncharted looks "ok" in screenshots but in motion it looks so fucking shit.

yeah except that wasn't the entirety of the last boss. There was a more traditional fight that came before that and the scene acts as sort of the finisher. People aren't complaining that QTE's existwell some people are but some people will complain about everythingthey're complaining that QTE's are replacing an actual boss fight which is just lazy
