Honestly yes, I love how cool 0^2 is but dark star should've been a whole new world and the fight is too easy. Star dream in regular mode is easy too but the hype was there, making it become difficult in true arena made it the best finall boss in the series.
The first phase theme was the best song in that fight, don't know why they used it first.

I'm not sure if teleport can avoid it, but I know that if you time it just right, you can avoid it with the invincibility frame that comes from getting your ability back after losing it.

The first waves miss you on purpose. It's literally difficult to be hit by the first wave.

Second wave is middle third
Third is top and bottom thirds
That's all, after that the fight is done, and the time frame in which it can hit you is pretty low

I had an idea about something involving stars and expanding upon Kirby's normal succ ability. The main antagonist would be some star goddess/princess that would come to Popstar because it would have too much "star energy" or something. I guess the levels would spell out something like C-O-S-M-O-S.

I think it's not just this but also having access to more versatile movesets in general. It was designed to be a challenge for a Kirby who can only attack directly left and right, but now we can attack from any angle so there's a lot more blindspots in its attack patterns now.

Literally just fought Dark Matter in KDL2 two days ago, he's absolutely more difficult there. He is perfectly modernized in Robobot, but the transition made him a lot easier due to the circumstances of the original fight.

I think its pretty cool regardless, the callback just pushes it over the top for the fans who've played Super Star, but if you haven't its mysterious and creepy once it unleashes its face
Like there's nostalgia and callbacks, but its still a fantastic boss with great visuals, animation and music, all of it original or made for the game even if the main look of its final form is inspired

the nostalgia factor is one thing, but at the same time it is a massive godlike clock star.
It is on the same level of fearsome as all kirby final bosses.
The cat face, though cute, is creepy as hell in its own right. That dead stare meng.
That and we all know what Nova is capable of. Anyone who played superstar knows that Nova isnt to be trifled with, so when you see another one glaring you in the face, it is the ultimate 'OH FUCK' moment.
