It would be if not for horrible QC and a 90 day warranty. For 150 dollars I expected it to be made with better components than the base model.

I've had mine for 5 months and it has stick drift. It's still better than both my DS4s with busted R2s.

Never liked the DS controllers. Only positive I'll give them is that they're easier to claw than an Xbox controller.

The segmented Dpad is crap. It's better than what MS shat out on the XB and 360 pads but it's still not good. Left stick belongs up top, period. It's not 1996 anymore, we don't use Dpads as the primary method of input very often, and again that Dpad is crap to begin with. I'd never want to play a platformer with it. And there's no getting around the QC issues with the sticks either.
>>
>>342012250

The triggers are still garbage. Just because they are better than the absolute shit of the DS3 doesn't mean that the new ones are great. They are simply passable.

The nubs are ok. They used to fall off but that was more of a launch issue.

Dpad is meh.
>>
>>342012521
nice meme, next your going to say you liked the N64 controller
>>
>>342012314
The R2 on both my DS4s broke in less than a year and I don't even play console fps. It's a comfortable controller made with the cheapest parts they could get, just like the DS3.

The only first party controllers made with decent parts are Nintendo, but it's too much of a hassle to bother getting them working on PC.

Jesus, you must seriously beat the shit out of controllers. The worst that's ever happened to me is my 360 has worn thumbsticks and bad drift after 6 years of hard and 2 years of light usage.
>>
>>342012814
360 pad is pretty solid compared to Sony's controllers though. My DS3 feels like I could twist it and snap it in half, not doing that to my 360 pad.
>>
>>342012521
>posting one of the main reasons the GC lost to the PS2

But it's good right? Cause you play Melee
>>
>>342011146

That's not the Saturn controller.
>>
>>342013138
PS2 controller is complete trash compared to it, though. Minus d-pad.
>>
>>342012814
My 360, PS2 and Nintendo pads still hold up great. I either have shitty luck, or maybe modern manufacturers use shitty parts to save money.

That doesn't change the fact that a 150 dollar controller only has a 90 day warranty, but my 200 dollar MCZ stick has a 2 year warranty.

And no I'm not a child who has temper-tantrums.
>>
>>342011146
Steam Controller is boss
>>
>>342013138
But the Xbox had a regular controller and played DVDs but still only sold as many units as the GC, so what's your excuse now?

It's good because it's good. The button layout is great, you only have to move your thumb slightly in any direction to hit any of the face buttons and you know exactly what you're hitting by the shape and placement. The analog triggers are also great.
>>
>>342012814
Normally I'd agree with you, but that anon probably isn't as chimpish as you might think.

For whatever reason that 150$ controller is built at about 1/10th the durability of a standard gamecube controller.

It actually WOULD be the best controller on the market if it were either 120$ cheaper or was durable, because as it stands it generally comes apart after a month or two of casual play, and will sometimes even have drifting problems almost immediately after unboxing, or disjointed thumbsticks and broken shoulder buttons early on.

Take it from someone who has replaced three already. I'm an idiot for not just getting it refunded, and it's sad since a bit more quality on these controllers side could actually make it one of the best controllers I've had. Blame removeable parts.
>>
>>342011596
underrated
>>
>>342013258
>segmented Dpad
Still bad, GC's was too small though

No 6th gen controller had a good Dpad, but the GCs was still the best by virtue of not being segmented and imprecise and not being that god-awful abortion of a Dpad found on the XB controllers.
>>
>>342012814
ive dropped my 360 pad with it landing face down at least 15 times over 5 years and its still trucking
>>
>>342013305
>my 200 dollar MCZ stick has a 2 year warranty.
Well, Madcatz isn't going to exist in 2 years, so that's kind of a wash.
>>
Can someoen explain to me the point of the steam controller?
For every game that ypu would actually want a controller to play, it is effectively the worst controller because of the trackpad, and for every other game, you are better off just going mouse and keyboard.

Because it's meant for those every other games, but being played on the couch in front of the TV or whatever.
>>
>>342011146
Are those spare parts or are they part of the controller?
>>
>>342013667
It's like having one of those media keyboards with a trackpad built in, only with shitty half-baked configuration software because everyone at Valve just wants to make Dota hats and VR dogshit, and basically a guarantee that your game will fuck up because it wasn't designed for simultaneous controller/KBM use.

Levers for the rear paddles.
>>
>>342013604
You're probably right, but I've had it since GGXrd and no problems. The parts and board are also very easy to replace.

I love my elite for the paddles(no more claw grip), but I really wish the stick drift could be fixed easily.
>>
I want a steam controller, but not really for gaming since none of my games are on Steam.
Mainly for browsing in bed. I have a mech KB and a wired mouse that I can't easily bring to bed, but a Steam controller seems perfect for Kodi and thread browsing in bed.
Can any anons with a Steam Controller tell me if this is a bad idea?
>>
>>342011146
No, because it's not the DS2.
>>
How you know someone has no taste in controllers
>They like any dualshock and say it's the best
>>
>>342013058
Why are Americans so obsessed with the controller being heavy? The DS3 being light is good, it puts less strain on your hands when playing for a long time.
>>
>>342016175

If the weight of a controller is tiring you out, maybe you should put it down for a while and go do something else.
>>
>>342016269

You wanna try that again or was that a strong argument in your autistic head?

Did that help?
>>
>>342016742
The button layout is great, rest your thumb over A and just roll it slightly to hit any of the other buttons.
>>
>>342016357
well the xbox had controllers bigger than our planet so it make sense if you can't hold it for long before getting tired
>>
>>342011146
It's damn good, but it isn't $150 good.
>>
>>342017173
What about 120
>>
>>342016992
wasn't talking about that though, but moreso about the argument that people says they know what they hit by the shape. it's pointless because i already know what i'm hitting anyway. still a very nice controller though
