This game looks cool

Why does /v/ hate it?
>>
>>342000325
Because it's not the game that was shown years ago.
This game is playing on hype and dreams, it won't deliver
This game is also a reboot
>>
Only reason it bears that title is so that the company wouldn't lose the IP.

Actual Prey 2 looked cooler.
>>
>>342000325
>doesn't want to be a space bounty hunter
As usual, OP's a jet powered turbofag
>>
>>342000325
It's Skyrim in space. Of course /v/ will be butthurt forever.

On a serious note: You can just make your character an Indian and mod a quest where you rescue your gf who die anyway.

>Bethesda

It has everything working against it.
>>
>>342000325
Because the superior game released years ago
>>
>>342000325
i think the real question is why wouldn't you hate it?
>>
'Cause being a bounty hunter in an open-world alien city on the moon was cooler.

Instead we've got a linear psychological thriller.
>>
>>342000989

Did you read his post? He said it looks cool. You must have the reading comprehension of a newborn infant.
>>
Fuck Bethesda and their shitty business practices
>>
>Take an okay beloved game.
>Announce a sequel
>Sequel looks fucking amazing
>Cancel sequel
>Reboot

We've got so close to being a badass space bounty hunter, fighting against the odds.

So fucking close.
>>
>>342001532
>linear psychological thriller.
That's what original Prey was about. Why would /v/ hate it?
Open-world just scream Bethesda and /v/ will hate that much more because muh Fallout in space

Because Bethesda strangled a developer to death so they could get the IP

They removed Prey 1 from Steam and now are rebooting it in an attempt to bury the original
>>
>>342001532

so you want a boring kill x enemy get reward shit instead?
>>
>>342001724
>That's what original Prey was about.

Arguably. It was Doom 3 with aliens. I wouldn't exactly call it a psychological thriller.

I only ever played the original Prey once around the time it came out, but have very good memories of it. Should I replay it /v/? Would the illusion be shattered?
>>
>>342002075
Aside from the stupid death mechanic it's a solid game. 3DRealms last true game

Sadly this is the reality, companies do this all the time, skulduggery is encouraged in the world of capitalism and it won't ever matter because the customers and vast majority of people won't care/know better and even if they did they wouldn't actually do anything about it or make any stand against it 'besides maybe type an angry post or tweet which will be instantly burred and forgotten.

As Snake Plisken once said, welcome to the human race.
>>
>>342000325
It's not what we wanted.

I don't hate it. I just want Prey 2 back.
>>
>>342000325
Because it bears the name of a dead franchise that it has nothing to do with. Some consider that more than a little disrespectful.
>>
>>342002605
This. It almost feels like it is going to be a bait and switch for people.
>>
>>342002139
I remember getting stuck in a section near the end and dying like ten times in a row. Felt increasingly absurd each time. I was sure there'd be a limit at some point, but nope, just kept going.
>>
I'm super excited for a sci-fi game by Arkane. If it's anywhere near as good as Dishonored I'm all in.
Never played the previous game so I could care less about the IP.
>>
>>342001730
Why do people always assume the publisher must have done evil things? It seems just as plausible that Human Head sucked at making deadlines and making the game on time. All the Prey 2 info was a bunch of he-said-she-said with no evidence on either side.
>>
>>342001847
So you want a boring walk around until spooky things happen shit instead?
>>
>>342000325
Because it doesn't look half as interesting as bounty hunter in space Prey looked.
>>
>>342000325
Because the game looks like nothing yet, just luke the new quake. There was zero gameplay showcases so far so we shouldnt be hype for that untill we get some gamrplay.
>>
>>342000325
no cool spooky native American stuff. I agree the game looks cool though. will play
>>
>>342003252
>It seems just as plausible that Human Head sucked at making deadlines and making the game on time
That is incredibly implausible since Human Head was all the old Raven staff, the same team who made Heretic and Hexen and had been making games for decades. They're not some Daikatana slapjob team, they know what they're doing.
>>
>>342000698
oh yeah, kind of like doom

chill out you autist. we know nothing about it yet
>>
>>342004620
Past cred means jack shit in this industry. Well-established companies fuck up their own games and develop unanticipated problems all the time.
>>
>>342000325
i don't hate hate it.
i don't like the fact that's it's not a direct sequel to prey.
>>
>>342004886
The unanticipated problem in this case was Bethesda.
>>
Shit, out of all cover design, why do they go with the most generic one?
>>
>>342000325
Might be good if Chris Avellone is writing the story.
>>
I'm apprehensive. I loved Prey and I loved the concept behind Prey 2, but Dishonored was just not fun. I had to force myself to finish that game and I have zero interest in Dishonored 2. My expectations for this are tepid.
>>
>>342000325
Why isnt the MC an American indian?
>>
>looks cool
>only thing shown was a cg trailer
>>
>>342005325
He's credited as creative director, apparently. So he might do some actual writing and direction of everyone's writing for Prey.
>>
>>342005525
Yes
>>
>>342000325
Lets all be honest with eachother for one minute, Bethesda fucking aside.

Prey one was essentially this.
>Cherokee Indians are aliens.
>The hero defeats the big bullshit planet eater at the end.
>Other aliens appear and claim you are a true hero and real human bean, come with us.

ok, leaves room for a sequel, but really who gives a shit because he lost everything anyway. I dont wanna play as Tommy again.

>Prey 2
>Nothing to do with Prey 1
>You are just a bounty hunter, and you track down bounties.
Looked rather dull honestly, looked sorta like it was gonna be Hitman or COD, not interested.

So rebooting it was the only REAL choice in my own opinion.

Now, you have a chance at a new age doom, or Event Horizon the video game.
>>
If it were a new IP would you guys think that it looks good? I've never played the original Prey and I think this one looks pretty great
>>
>>342001730
>They removed Prey 1 from Steam
Prey 1 got pulled around 2009, maybe earlier, because they ran out of keys.

>and now are rebooting it in an attempt to bury the original
If not for the above reason, I could see this happening. They removed Wolfenstein 2009 for this very reason.

>They removed Prey 1 from Steam
As much scorn as Bethesda/Zenimax rightfully deserves....that wasn't their fault.

3DR used another service before Steam called Triton. Once that went down. Prey got to steam where THEY RAN OUT OF CDKEYS during its first sale. Hasn't been back since. The only way to get it on steam is to register a retail copy to your account.
Dumping Prey 2 stuff.

Because it has nothing to do with Prey and is only called that so the kikes at Zenimax want to give the middle finger to Human Head and keep the rights to the IP

Everything about the actual game sounds promising to me, I love sci-fi/horror settings, I love Looking Glass Studios style immersive sim games and I love Chris Avellone who's been helping out with the story for the game
