Obviously the game is expanded in many other areas, but the core combat is exactly the same.

Also if you bring arrows in your inventory you can pick up more ammunition in your baggage in your starting corner of the battlefield

No, if the enemy has a decent archer line you will be dehorsed/killed before you fired 3 arrows, and at that point you're a normal archer, ripe for the taking by enemy armored infantry/cavalry.

But can't you just stay out of archer direct fire range, and utilize mobility to outmaneuver the archer lines while you shoot your arrows in arches for longer distances? Basically if you go skimming around max range of arrow fire so long as you aren't trying to kill a 10 archers running and ducking spread out but an actual entire line your arrow showers will more than likely hit more than theirs do no? I don't know how arrow mechanics work in the game so maybe it doesn't work like that, though I guess if the archers swapped to shields it'd be easy pickings.

But it sounds great that you can't cheese it even if you bring together an entire army of players.

Yes TLD for warband with the patches.

I enjoyed playing dwarfs, they're little tanks when they get up close to the action. Hired elven archers for range and use dale troops for horese troops at the start.

Cheers mate, I played it with 0.808version of original m&b.

Shit was broken but also fun as fuck. Those spider mounts that could turn almost instantly, but you couldn't buy them in the shop, only start with them in inv as orc raider.

My guess is it's more playable right now?

I think you meant that the same core 4-way attack/defense gameplay is the same. However there's additional factors in play: you can hit more than 1 target, and you can hit someone with the lower part of your sword now at the very beginning of your attack.

Not really. Just unnecessary fluff in the 4-directional combat system. There's no room for grappling and dagger finishers either, even though those were used too.

There are spears and pikes so youll lose your horse pretty often in a charge. Arrows also are 1 shot head shots on horses.

HEMA here. Dual wielding happened in Europe. We've got a few books that cover it. It also exists in Kali notably, the stick fighting system that stems from Spanish fencing. It covers two sticks, knives, machetes, and swords.

Personally I'm highly excited for the modding capability of the game. Having separate sword, axe, mace, hammer, rapier animations will be pretty neato. Being able to create new animations will allow for dual wielding finally. Now I can get a good renaissance period mod, and wield a pistol with a sword. Always wanted to do that.

That sounds awesome, but does that mean the armored horses are fully protected top to bottom, no weak point what so ever? I mean when I see heavy cavalry I rarely see the lower parts of their legs covered, but maybe that doesn't matter in game.

Yeah, my theory was based on pure players, but it does seem kinda silly for the AI to be so backwards. Not being able to punch through armor is one thing, but charging heavy cavalry as light cavalry sounds like something you'd want to fix.

I just hope the tool kit allows for more basic moves like tying ropes to trees and stuff and baiting cavalry charges into them. It wouldn't even have to be part of the base game, just somehow workable kinda like how Skyrim modding is.
