The combat shits all over every other entry in the series. It's worth it for that alone.
You'll actually feel like you're in a fun gunfight now, and the rest of the game is only bad in comparison to New Vegas. It's a perfectly servicable RPG on its own.

Haven't played it much since I got it. Though for different reasons than everyone else - I just hate having to figure out and decide where to go all the time.

it was really good first starting out, roaming around the wasteland again was nice but eventually I got tired of the shit, and the story started getting really fucking stupid. I went to the institute, met shaun, and turned my game off. I have no intention of ever playing it again, that plot line completely turned me off.

It's shit, like every other Bethesda game that came after Morrowind.
Buff it with mods and enjoy it in however way you want, as a rape simulator or as a space marine game, it doesn't matter.
Vanilla bethesda games are always bad, their only reedemable feature is that they're so poorly made in terms of mechanics and gameplay that they can be modded to hell and back to squeeze some fun out of them.

It feels like one of those CD games you got off a cereal packet in the early 00s. I paid £15 and feel a bit ripped off. Aside from feeling shit and looking worse, bear in mind it's a (terrible) shooter before anything else. You can't VATS through the game. You can VATS away about 1/3 of the enemy healthbefire falling back on the movement and shooting which are functional enough for zero skill at all. It's absolutely bizarre.
On top of that the locations, quests and characters are just plain boring.

I think this is, in part, why I got bored of 3 quickly. A lot about it I'd nice, but I hated 2. Didn't finish the first chapter even. It was ugly, it was boring and combat was an absolute drag. 3 was a return to form in being more like 1 but it didn't feel self contained enough. That or they just didn't explain shut, I dunno.

Main story kind of sucks but the gameplay is pretty good. Your role is handed out by the game so you won't feel a difference between a smart or strong character when dealing with situations. Which sucks.
On one hand practically no way to affect the story or outcome of events in any meaningful way (3 ways to say yes, one way to say sometime later for every dialogue) but settlement building, and in the DLC robot creation and modding. Is pretty good. The most recent DLC Far Harbor goes some of the way in dealing with the bland story elements and lack of meaningful choice, but not nearly as far as NV.
It'seems repetitive as fuck.
Plot is dumb and tries to patch plot holes with weak throw-away lines of dialogue.
No cool quests, three kinds of quests: talking to different people quest/05% ofor quests. Build suit 0,5% of quests, go into building and kill all that moves 99% of quests, and don'the get me started on the RNG shit.
Melee builds are objectively inferior than all others. Pure charisma/into builds require power armor or prolonged, boring stealth. Builder/energy weapons build is objectively superior. No role playing aspects, voiced protagonist benefits the game in no way, quite the contrary.
I could go on. I only played the funding game because I was in denial about making a bad purchase .
