>people unironically like this game
DUDE DUCT TAPE LMAO

I'm finally getting around to playing that game. Only played an hour or two 11 years ago because my computer couldn't handle it at the time. I'm trying to play it as it was intended, but holy hell it's annoying. Getting real tempted to download that duct tape mod. Other than that it's fine so far, but doesn't feel very DOOMish.

>duct tape
what??
I like it. I'm not the kind of guy who will dismiss a game just because it doesn't completely fit into a franchise. At this point I consider Doom to be 3 separate series now, Classic Doom, Doom 3 and New Doom.
It was shit senpai. They tried to turn Doom into a survival horror, and it was more like a shitty haunted house simulator

Uh...
Its duck tape, dumb fr*ck.
I've heard so many people try to tell me this game's actually good. When I tried playing it it was one of the dullest, "nothing's fucking happening, nothing's fucking happening, nothing's fucking happening" experiences of my life. And it's not scary if the game is so dark you literally cannot see ANYTHING half the time.
Masters of Doom kinda shed some light on why it ended up the way it did.
People were pretty down on how Doom 2 felt like a glorified level pack for Doom 1, and people liked the grittier feeling that Quake introduced, plus id wanted to see what a real horror-type Doom would be like.

Even though that D44Mguy is Doom guy after spending millennia in hell completing all of the .wads

The BFG Edition removed the handheld flashlight and mounted it on your shoulder instead. Made the game much more enjoyable.
The game really is a great survival horror game. The DOOM setting is cool, and it was nice to see the do something else with it. Also that Carmack lighting and shadows, muh diickk.
I'm glad the hate for it not being a classic DOOM is finally wearing off.

I almost played the BFG edition, but I heard that it made some bad changes, so I figured I'd just go with the original. I might try it at some point though. Or maybe soonish, I only just made it to the Alpha labs.

>The game really is a great survival horror game.
>Nothing to do but shoot the same enemies on shitty corridors
>boring and repetitive locations
>shitty story
>no finding keys, puzzles or any form of exploration
Even as a survival horror, that game is nothing but trash, being not doom is not the reason why its bad, RE4 is not resident Evil yet it's still ranked among the best game ever made.

Sammy please leave.
>>341950614
>literally nothing happens 90% of the time
>the other 10% is the same boring enemy
I guess the clunky controls and sluggish movements are what make it feel like a 'great survival horror' game, then.
>>341949294
It's a bad Doom
It's bad at being "Spooky, Survival Horror"
The co-op was interesting but nothing noteworthy.
I honestly have no idea how people can defend Doom 3.

it was really just an okay game. I appreciated the spirit of it all by the 3rd act where you actually went to hell but it was such a fucking drag to get there. Then when you actually did get there it was over before you knew it. It was trying too hard to be atmospheric like half life and forgot it was motherfucking doom in the process.
