I really liked the online of this, you could name your game anything and have it be so many things, trust runs, cow runs, making pictures by dropping money on the ground and picking it up, people rushing others willingly, the community was so nice.
Now in Diablo 3 you don't get custom rooms, you are forced to play on a random server they put you on and it's rare you ever run into another player, I've spent 30 hours of that game and I've found literally not one other person in the entire game, it wasn't until I got to Torment III before I saw a few more other people.

Tbqh I tried when I was young to play diablo 2 - I was now loving it so much - it just didn't feel like my genre.
Then tried it again recently - and I think again I was not really enjoying it - but I tried it with a friend and I kinda had fun at some points, until I think I had problems and never bothered to fix them back.
So all this considered for my third attempt I just want the game that is most likely going to keep me at least interested until I finish the story.
Diablo II is probably the best example of a game that is still just as good as it was when it was new.
It isn't the best game ever, but it has an insane lasting appeal. There is always that one build you haven't tried, that one piece of gear you never found, that one runeword you didn't make...

Spend 12 days grinding same story over and over Hitting one button and listening to global constantly talking about how D3 is a shit game:
Path of Exile where drop rate is so bad, you wont even know what items there are to try and use them to make a build and even if u do, good luck cus every path changes the imba passive nodes and builds boil down to boosting PASSIVES for a weapon you use and stack HP and elemental protection regardless of the build. Picking classes on begining means nothing and u can mess up ur build. Even if you google it, almost every build in PoE revolves around chugging tons of infinite pots (as loong as u crit or murder stuff) and spamming ONE BUTTON for more then 100 hours of gameplay.
You then get options over the course or grinding a boring story to make ur skill shoots 4x more projectiles adn they call it build variety.Good luck trying to find a party that will accept ur build cus respecs costs REAL MONEY or TONS Of GRIND TIME.
U also need to pay REAL MONEY for stash SPACE in a looter based game. The icing of the cake is probably how uninteresting the "unique items" are in PoE (the same reason people called D3 shit - leges with no effects-lots of those in poe) is that Uniques drop so rarely that u fill FOCUS grinding CURRENCY in the form of ORBS that make u forge AN IMBA RARE ITEM to complement ur spam 1 button build. ANd If u farm enough currency you go to PoE.trade and BUY and Equip Best in Slot gear so u can go and tackle... story again? Beat people in Arena with same cookie cutter builds? Grind currency for alts? IDk.
