Enemy converges on the point, so mindlessly spamming it guarantees kills. Most points are enclosed rooms which meens easy SIMPLE GEOMETRY kills. People busy fighting at the clusterfuck are easy targets for his ult too.

Most snipers are shit, and once you figure out where they are, it's easy to flank them due to their inherent unawareness, but the good ones are terrifying.

Along with Genji he tends to attract a lot of shitters. I don't mind having a Hanzo on my team as long as they do a good job but I think 9 times out of 10 they're complete shit and are just farting about until they can get their ult. Genjis are the same but contribute even less, most of them aren't any use and do nothing until they get their ult and then manage to kill one person with it and then get killed.

You can just judge based on how knowledgeable everyone is, whether they play for objective, whether they actually care about team comp etc. If you ever queue with friends and notice significantly lower quality players, it either means you're significantly better than them.

That's the thing though, they're hard to come by. Everytime I see a slot get taken by Hanzo, especially when we're on attack I cringe because it's basically an empty slot. Something about him just attracts far too many shitters. Even bad Widowmakers can still contribute, Hanzos' just seem to fling arrows at chokepoints and die a lot. I just wish the people playing him were worth a shit. Same with Genji players, so many of them are just pure shit.

Again I'm really good and consistent with him, and I also cringe a lot when I see a random instalock hanzo, 9/10 they're also trash.
But that won't discourage me from playing him and improving even further with him. Also whenever I notice I'm not playing well or being effective with him I just switch, which is something I hardly ever see. What I see with Genjis and Hanzos is some retard instalocks the hero before anyone else makes their pick and doesn't switch no matter what happens.
The most fun part of Hanzo though is shitting on widowmakers with him, I love when a widow thinks she can kill me by outpeeking me but she doesn't know I have a spotter arrow on her ass and I have a shot lined up for her face.

The most important things to learn when playing Hanzo are arrow trajectory/speed, prediction of enemy movement and positioning.
You want to learn how fast and what arc your arrows follow with your arrows half and fully charged, so you know where your arrow will go at any distance. When you learn that you have to focus on predicting enemy movement, since arrows are a projectile and the speed varies depending on how charged your bow is predicting enemy movement is very important, you have to lead all your shots. Never aim for the head, always aim for the chest, and you'll have a lot more success than aiming for the head and missing. Also learn to outplay your enemies when they try to move erratically, practice makes perfect.
Last you want to learn good positioning, so you can engage people at medium range (Hanzo's intended range), where you can contest the point and deny people areas of the map with your arrows, as well as not get ganked by heroes like Genji or Winston.
Learn the places where you wanna shoot your spotter arrow to give your team the best information, don't just toss it around randomly every time it goes off cooldown.
For scatter arrows you can aim at someone's feet to get an instakill on almost any character including tanks, learn the angles at which the arrow scatters to kill people around corners and door frames.
His ult is mostly area denial, don't expect to get many kills with it in higher levels, however it can be comboed with stuff like Zarya's ult or Reinhard's ult so coordinate with those to wipe the enemy team if possible. His ult is best used to deny the enemy team areas of the map, it's ideal for overtime tie endings, you get the enemy team off the point and secure the win for your team.
I recommend you watch good players like A_Seagull playing him to get an idea on what a good Hanzo wants to do.
Also remember to climb walls all the time to get in better spots or to juke enemies.

This alone is the one thing that makes you superior to other Hanzo's. Sometimes I get stubborn and really want to win as a single character and I forget that there's like twenty of the motherfuckers that I can pick. Different heroes are applicable to different situations. Can't tell you how many times I've decided to unfuck my shit and pick another hero only for my k/d to drastically improve.
I reason it like this. On KOTH, right? Say I'm playing Tracer and I go 10-3 on the first map. Say on the second map I'm Tracer and for the entire duration I'm *still* 10-3. Or worse, 11-5. That's grounds for a switch for the next round because I actively contributed *nothing* to the team. I do the same with payload checkpoints on Attack Maps. If I'm not being a relevant pusher as a particular hero then I switch.
Same with on Defense.

People in general are reluctant to switching heroes in the middle of the game for some reason, I knoww I have some "core" heroes I can always fall back to and do really well, heroes like Reaper, McCree, Roadhog, Lucio and Reinhardt.
Like ok you can be a little stubborn and not want to change, but you gotta adapt and in some situations some hero just doesn't work. My favorite heroes are heroes that sometimes don't work and I'm forced to switch. I really love Zarya and Hanzo, but they can't work at all times, especially Zarya relies on her team composition way too much and if you're solo tanking and it's not working it's just better to switch off to Roadhog or Reinhardt.
It doesn't matter which game mode you're playing, you just need to make a good judgement on what works, you may have your "main" or mains meaning the heroes you enjoy the most and generaly are most comofortable with and want to play more but you can still switch and play anything.
I've played all heroes and do decently with them, the only ones I don't ever really play are Symmetra and Torbjorn, even though I acknowledge they're great most of the time someone already picks them so I can just pick something else.
People in general need to learn to adapt to the situation and I think the higher you go in MMR the more you see that, as I've improved I see more versatile players and in general better lineups from both teams.
When I started out though it was all shitty Genjis and Hanzos that would never switch. Sad!

Yeah, this. If you want maximum damage then his Concussion Mine has to be on a flat surface. If it's in the air then it's strength is reduced. 75 is still a sizable chunk. It's a tremendous utility weapon and having it deal as much damage as his primary fire is fucking stupid--especially considering that Pharah, the only other hero that utilizes explosive weaponry, has a Concussive Blast that does 0 fucking damage. That's just not fair. Junkrat takes off 120 damage with each bomb making him the most spammy hero ever because there's no damage fall off. Splash damage does a whopping 80 fucking damage. Pharah's splash damage fall off is in the range between 13 and 80. Despicable.
I can also see his Steel Trap getting less damage, too. It does 80 and traps enemies for 3 seconds. 80 is a fucking lot of damage. 80+120 from the Concussion Mine is enough to one-shot any 200hp hero. Jesus. .

Exactly. My go-to Offensive hero is Reaper because he's absolutely braindead and when he's being a sneaky jerk he can cause alot of ass pain. But he needs to be in range. If I can't get there then there are alternative heroes I can select. I can take Reaper to most maps but some team compositions means he isn't going to be as effective. I feel the same when it comes to using a character like Mei or Winston on attack. Winston isn't build for Volskaya Industries. He'll get his shit pushed in right proper. So you have to adapt and swap out.
Can't take Symmetra to Nepal because you can't weave a cohesive web of death. Your contributions are meager and you're better off switching. Some heroes are a plus on literally any map with literally any semblance of team composition [most offensive heroes, Lucio, Mercy, etc.] but holy hell.

Man. Sometimes I'll get stubborn. Like I'm in a pub and we'll randomly decide to run a Meme Team. Full Reaper or Soldier 76 or full Reinhardt or what have you. I'll give you zaryas ult because it's probably the most broken ult team wipe ability. A bastion would rarely be in the position for his ult to work, and 76 has the setup but lacks the hard damage and is required to spend the time flanking the enemy. Pharah though can easilly set it up and can adjust herself for the perfect moment for her ult to work.

Her splash damage is between 13 and 80 damage depending on where enemies are standing. Meanwhile Junkrat's is a flat 80 regardless of your positioning. If Pharah was dealing a solid 80 damage she'd be a much higher threat. She wouldn't have to accurate aim to completely fuck your day up. Wish her Concussive Blast dealt some damage. Spacing enemies just isn't enough in my eyes.

I've been chased down in teleport mode and gunned the hell down by Traces, Zero Suit D.Va's, Junkrats other Reapers and Genji's. While it's great to go "fuck this shit I'm out" your travel speed is fucking abysmal. Peak around corners and keep your distance from tanks. Light those sons of bitches up with Helix Rockets. Soldier 70-dicks has 5 more ammo than Bastion and deals 5-17 damage depending on the drop off distance. You can really pour it into an enemy if they're stationary. I like to pepper turrets and harass Bastion's/Tanks from afar. Your rockets deal 120 damage with 80 splash so if you're not confident about hitting your opponent dead on then aim for their feet--there's no getting around that 80 damage.

A braindead Reinhardt could stand on the cart all game and not shield his teammates properly. As Symmetra I find Soldier 70-dicks is one of the easiest Offensive heroes to take out next to Genji. The S76 is always occupied with other enemies and will almost always move out of his healing circle while Symmetra is on top of him. Her gun does so much damage the longer it's concentrated on an enemy and it will bleed him dry. Sprinting away from her is pretty key since her range is fucking SHIT. As long as you're backpedaling away you can pepper her dumb ass--especially since the Symmetra player will likely pursue you. If they go too far without having anything to duck behind then they're open season. Jumping like a spastic retard won't save them from your sights.

Nah son why the teleporter is very handy hand molten core turns both you and your turret into a team slaugthering beings. On top of giving 75 armor witch you will have plenty of scrap to make while in the front lines. As for his gun it is 140 no damage fall off M1 and then a fucking shot gun that melts tanks for it's m2.

Because the Genji's I've played will either be waiting for their dash to come back or won't double jump to get away. It's the stupidest thing. Either they'll waste their time attempting to deflect energy or--I don't know. I chalk it up to bad players. Genji is squishy but he has tools for getting out of bullshit--and tools for dealing with a bunny hopping Symmetra.
Though if a turret laser or two is on him and he can't dash out and Symmetra adds her beam to the mix he's as good as dead. Her turrets slow your movement considerably. It's like being hit with Mei's primary fire. But yeah--the overwhelming majority of Genji players I've faced I've been able to take down without doing much. That gun just bleeds him dry.
Why is Hanzo so popular? It is the MAD SKILLZ crowd that like him so much?
