What the fuck happened?
>>
It gives the developers leeway to add new types because everyone isn't constantly having to relearn all the matchups.
>>
The hardest Pokemon game ever made had the exact same feature.

By removing the possibility that you don't know the typing, they can make the game challenging in other ways.
>>
>game originally created for children includes features to allow children to play more effectively

>>341874863

Memorizing a chart isn't really a "challenge", or at least not the fun kind of challenge.
>>
>>341874587
It'll most likely be optional
>>
>>341874587
It's a quick reference to information which was always readily available in the instruction booklet of gen 1.

They don't make instruction booklets anymore so this makes sense.

I looked that shit up from time to time when I played as a kid, this just saves time.

its not really a big deal. believe it or not there are children who have never picked up a pokemon game that would be thrilled to know about this mechanic. all it is an eye sore to those who already understand the game but not that much of an issue
>>
>>341874587
A lot of new pokemon don't really look like whatever dual type they can be, and remembering what, 800+ now? pokemon and their types can be annoying.
It's not like the games are hard regardless though, and it's better for the leagues of literal children who are still the primary audience for these games. You can still brute force things and easily win.

>>341874587
I'd prefer it to be able to be turned off, but it existing isn't too much of a problem - Pokemon is too repetitive for this to make much of a difference though. Kind of makes sense that a modern pokedex would be able to tell you stuff like this too.

You guy's eyes suck at following a straight ling

Bug is 12. 12 is marked with a Circle on 11 which means it's Super Effective on Psychic and an X on 14 which means it's NVE on Ghost

When the chart is going DOWN that's when it's defense relations rather than attacking, meaning Bug receives Super Effective Damage FROM Fire, Poison, Flying and Rock.

Anon, that doesn't make sense.

By that logic, equipment in RPGs shouldn't tell you their element either if there is one. You should be able to know it off hand.

The logic we're arguing is similar to the game flat out telling players the enemie's weakness' without having to use Scan or whatever ability needed to determine it.

You are not especially smart or skilled for knowing or guessing the type chart and that is not where the challenge of the game comes from. This is doing nothing but displaying information that has always been available for you to reference since the beginning of Pokemon. You didn't even need the Internet, the type chart was in the manual.

You can't even argue that it takes away the fun of figuring out the enemy's type since it doesn't display for a Pokemon you've never met.

>>
>>341877669
>By that logic, equipment in RPGs shouldn't tell you their element either if there is one. You should be able to know it off hand.
I actually agree with this one. You shouldn't be able to look at a sword and know it does 1d6+1 slashing damage, +1 to hit with an extra +2 damage and +2 to hit vs wookies. It should just be called "Wookiebane" and have a description of how this short sword was used to slay wookies and appears to have a magical aura around it, assuming you pass the lore, appraise and detect magic checks.

The campaign is already easy enough. Any difficulty isn't a result of not knowing a type matchup.
A lot of people are acting like being told that a move is super effective is overpowered or somehow lets you win the fight when you wouldn't anyway.
The type of people who complain about this being "dumbing the game down" are likely terrible at multiplayer battles.
