Shaolin Monks is the shit, used to love playing it in co op. I remember Ed teasing a remake last gen and getting hyped af.
Of course, nothing surfaced and his studio is just making shitty fighting games using the same template.
MK Deception also has a pretty kickass story mode with Shujinko. An MK World where you can travel between realms and pick up side quests? Top tier stuff. The story mode in their current games aren't really bad, but I wish they made some more adventure style games. Armageddon was OK but not really on Deceptions level

Been playing Nocturne but dropped it halfway through. I'm not a JRPG fan so it's not much for me, but I loved the game's atmosphere.

I have very, very fond memories of the single player. You play as Shujinko through his entire life. The fighting mechanics might not have been the best, but they never really are in MK. Since it went 3D it might not really be great honestly.
Whether it still holds up is a different question since it's been a while but I think the open world honestly worked really well. Some of the mini games like Chess Kombat were also pretty damn fun.
