I've been studying nip on and off for 4 years and I played VLR with the Jap dialogue.
It was very frustrating for me to read the translation as one thing and hear something that was different, but not know enough to follow along without subs as a guide.
Also the fact that almost every character was rewritten in the voice of the translator.
Lots of character quirks in the original that I could pick up, were translated under one specific voice.
Something like 5 different personality wise characters say the unique phrase of "it's what it says on the tin".
Really lazy and constantly pulled me out of what was going on.
But the jokes on me because I should just learn nip if I'm going to complain.
Point is, the TL of Persona 5 is going to be poop.
Dual audio won't help much.
I personally would rather the consistency of a good TL or a dub.
Fluent Jap readers/speakers get the real last laugh, since they got nothing to fuck with them.

Change 3.) The game removes the tactics system. Yes, it's removed. It's not even optional. They give you the ability to assign commands to teammates, but for people coming from FES, the actual tactics options in portable are REMOVED. Many of the best Tactics options for FES aren't in P3P. You just get basic "Heal/Support, Attack, Wait, Direct Command". Instead of all the cool options FES gives you. And the option to assign direct commands to your party members is completely retarded and removes player immersion. FES is a game where you are forced to be immersed into the role of the protagonist but in portable the protagonist is a seperate entity

In order for Persona 3's ending to strike you the way it did, it had to use EVERY TRICK IN THE BOOK to make the player feel like they ACTUALLY ARE the protagonist.
The gameplay, the story, even the cutscenes illlustrates that yes, you ARE the main character. That's why there's no default name in the game's introduction and you have to think of a name for MC. That's why the only person you can actually control is the MC. Because you ARE the MC.
And the tagline for the game: "Remember that you will remember your death". Wouldn't have worked unless the player felt like they were the MC.
