I'm trying to get my little brother to read more often. What are some great, entry level VN's for him to get invested in? Stuff like pic-related for example. He's 14
>>
let your brother do what he wants
>>
He should read real books weeb
>>
>>341817750
Only good NV's I can think of are 999, VLR, and the Danganronpa's, but they're a bit mature.
>>
>>341817750
danganronpa. its colorful and animu enough to keep a teenager's attention
>>
>>341817848
Calm down, it's not like I'm putting a shotgun to his head and forcing him to read. It's just gentle persuasion so he doesn't grow up to be an illiterate degenerate.
>>341817948
Did you really think that wasn't my first option? He keeps dropping everything so I'm trying for a more interactive approach.
>>
There are no good visual novels. Also those are not even video games. Make him read a book instead, faggot. Maybe he might actually learn something.
>>
>>341818129

get him to read science textbooks then fiction is a waste of fucking time and will turn him into a giant fag
>>
>>341818129

>It's just gentle persuasion so he doesn't grow up to be an illiterate degenerate

And yet you want him to read visual novels.
>>
>>341817750
What other genres does he like? If he has even the slightest affinity for puzzles, I'd suggest Virtue's Last Reward. I don't evne like puzzles OR VNs, and that one stuck with me.
>>
>>341818129
The format doesn't matter. Keep shoving things down his throat until he finds a story he likes. That's literally every kid ever. No one likes reading until they find the one.
>>
>>341818129

Making him "read" a visual novel is not gonna help. He will just turn into you and if you're posting on /v/ then that's not really a good thing. Slap him and force him to read a damn book if he says no.
>>
RPGs helped me get into reading when I was young.

I feel like that would be better for him, VN's aren't all that interactive.

>>341818402
Ok, fine.
http://www.strawpoll.me/10514222
These are all books I have lying around.
>>
>>341817750
Layton games
>>
>>341818924
What's his reading level at?

Also fuck The Giver.
>>
Dune RPG never ever.
I just want to play a game as Paul to ride worms and have some blasts.
>>
>>341818924
Make him read Brave New World you dumbass

Don't you have Harry Potter?
It's very easy to get into.
>>
>>341819093
If the reading level of the average teen is at sea level, he's at the Earth's core.
>>341819484
I don't have Brave New World. But, I do have 1984 now that I think about it.
>>341819594
So I'm presuming you didn't read my list?
>>
>>341818924
>>341819594
Oops should have read the poll first before posting stupid shit.
>>
>>341818924
What does he like though? 120 days of sodom sounds interesting, but maybe he would hate it.
>>
>>341818924
Percy Jackson books are pretty easy to read. He might find them fun, if there's any hope for him.
>>
>>341819886
The only books he reads are the ones his English teacher forces him to. So he doesn't have any books he likes.
>>
>>341819678
>he's at the Earth's core
Give up hope and get him into sports or teach him a trade.
>>
Get nightmare academy. It's fucking teen tier book with full of twists and fun monsters.
I got my brother into reading by that book.
>>
>>341818924
try the Piers Anthony fantasy stuff. That stuff was fucking awesome when I was 14.
>>
>>341819093
What's so bad about the Giver? I remember liking it back when I read it in Highschool.
>>
>>341819594
>Congratulations, Slytherin.
>You've topped every test and exam for the entire year, giving you the clear lead in points for the House Cup
>However, I'm going to give 50000 points to Gryffindor because Harry is my homeboy
>Get fucked

Why did Dumbldore do this every single year? It's no wonder Slytherins turn out to be assholes when they get this shit all the time.
>>
I'm casul with vns and i like digital a love story. its free and it has two sequels also good, analogue a hate story and hate plus
>>
Just show him /v/. He'll be reading and I'm sure at his age he'll fit right in.
>>
>>341820957
Isn't that what hip people call "societal norms" or something? Basically, it's the role society forces you to play. Kinda like a movie.
>>
>>341817750
>He's 14
>Still can't read

LOL what? Everyone is literate by grade 5.
>>
>>341821174
It's not that he CAN'T, it's that he WON'T.
>>
>>341821421
Then why the desire to make him read? Do you want him to become more cultured?
>>
>>341821860
Yes, start him off easy, then gradually make his material more mature until he gets some culture in him. I hoped that letting him play through a few VN's would let him see that reading is fun before giving him actual literature.
>>
Dunno, just keep throwing at him what would resonate with him.

I've read Crime and Punishment in seventh grade, but couldn't be bothered to finish a single Harry Potter book.
>>
>>341822267
My dad got me into reading with astrology books. Black holes and stars are fascinating.
>>
>>341822412
Not him, but it's nice to see another black hole enthusiast on /v/. So tell me, would you enter one if given the choice?
>>
>>341822412
Astrology? As in telling fortunes with stars?
>>
>>341822684
He probably meant astronomy. I get the terms mixed up all the time, too.
