The reason he was a good villain was BECAUSE he did wrong things.

>>341817282
It was both due to being able to recognize some things that were right and wrong. Quite a bit was changed.

Durotan's death (Fairly okay, given how it went)
Blackhand's death (Questionable. Really changed from games.),
Orgrim's position (Super questionable, one of the biggest changes),
Garona and Medivh actually fell in love in the game (And everyone is happy they didn't because Me'dan is a little sack of shit),
Stormwind actually got sacked at the end of Warcraft O&H.

I feel a lot of the scenes got cut for run time, like Trolls, Elves, and Dwarves, and a bit of establishment had to go too.

Im usually /tv/ fedora who usually hates most of the newly released movies, but i fucking loved it.

Its prolly cos i spent my childhood with war3 and wow, or prolly cos it was the first movie i saw on imax 3d and the effect/cgi in this movie are really amazing.

I can see how a non-fan might dislike it tho, they tried to pack too much in too little time, the pacing was clunky and its obvious there are at least ~40 mins cut from it.I think eventual full djrectors cut will fix a lot of the problems.

Tl:dr, its a good movie for fans, its decent movie for the rest.It definetely has problems, but its not even close to the "utter shit" that critics and /v/ edgy kids try to make it be

In truth, he was green cos Metzen fucked up, forgetting once again hes own storylines and timelones when he made the brown orcs retcon.
When theu saw that thrall being green doesnt work out on the time of the new retcon they had to make some shitty excuse, i think it was "being too much around fel cos of the other orcs made him green", but i might be wrong

>Effectively led the Argent Tournament into being as big a competition as it was
>Proceeded to become Warchief and ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING FOR THE HORDE

It's like you prefer Thrall as Warchief, you idjut.
>>
>>341819617
Purging Stratholme was fine, its what happened after/later that made him a villain
>>
>>341819617
Did he ever actually tell Uther 'Hey it's the grain that did this' or did he gloss over that part?
>>
>>341819617
No that was his second nail into becoming Lich king. The Final one was his suicidal venture to Northend on a mission for vengeance.
>>
>>341819820
Which only happened because all of his friends and allies turned their back on him and decided to tattle to Terenas. If Jaina and Uther hadn't gotten pissy over him trying to prevent innocents from having to suffer as undead, the voices in his head wouldn't have affected him enough to go to Northrend.
>>
>>341819916
Glossed over. A lazy cliche.
>>
Question.

Khadgar using From Darkness, Comes Light in the movie. What was that all about?
>>
>>341817282
It wasn't really a bad movie, it was just unremarkable. Barely any humor to it too, I was waiting on pins and needles for a peon/peasant cameo to no avail.
>>
>>341817282
Little better. I honestly thought it was just really boring, and found myself wishing it had all been done in CG instead of just the orcs.
>>
>>341819612
He didn't seem like much of a villain to me. He gave you free shit, helped you end the invasion and kept you as a contingency in case more demons needed killing in the future - twice

He even tried to convince the actual villain not to be such a fucking retard when he suspected she was gonna go and start doing the devil's bidding
>>
>>341820161
He fucking levelled up. I'm not even kidding, if you look closely at it it's the fucking level-up effect. I think there may have even been a ding.

I thought that was hilarious

>>
>>341817872
that feel when it's all the stupid retconned wow lore and not the original lore
>>
>>341817282

I'm familiar enough with Warcraft lore to know names of places and understand some references like the Polymorph and the Murloc. But I barely knew any of the actual story.

Human casting and acting is almost enough to ruin the movie on its own, and Garona's character was wasted on the mandatory relationship quota these types of movies have, which also made Lothar more boring.

The other 60% of the movie was all fun and enjoyable though. I'm looking forward to seeing the Director's Cut, and I'll go see a sequel if they continue with one.
>>
>>341821397
It's basically another one of the potential multiverses, just like WoD was - it's canon, but alternate universe/timeline canon.
>>
>>341821506
I liked the not kiss Garona and Lothar had. It was the ultimate spaghetti moment.
>>
>>341820791
Calling it now; It's so the big reveal when Thrall meets Orgrim to be that Orgrim can be more of a family figure, and he can tell Thrall more about his clan's past before handing him the Doomhammer. And Durotan's tusk.

>>341820882
Look closely at the sides. Best I can do from Tumblr.
>>
>>341821506
If you thought GaronaXLothar was bad, the original storyling has GaronaXMedivh.

And their spawn is perhaps one of the stupidest characters ever written into World of Warcraft, more so than Warchief 'Metzen's OC' Thrall.

Well, he fucked it up sure, but Ner'Zhul was the one who actually "Destroyed" it.
>>
>>341821789

Clearly level up.

Still wish he would have aged in that moment. He could have said something equally cheesy as From Darkness Comes Light like "From Life, Comes Death. From Death, Comes Life!" For the non-lore fans this would have made his journey to Kirin-Tor actually worth something for the context of the standalone movie.
>>
>>341821789
Yeah that's clearly the levelup animation. Though whether it was used for show(out of laziness) or to actuall mean something is up for discussion.

Alternatively:
>Khadgar: OH SHIT I AINT GOT TIME TO LEVEL TO BEAT THIS BOSS! BETTER PREORDER LEGION AND USE MY FREE lv100 BOOST!
>>
>>341822148
Him aging will likely happen early on in the next movie just before Stormwind gets sacked.

Maybe he even duels with Gul'dan and that's when it happens, and where Gul'dan goes comatose.
>>
>>341822012

I'm aware of Garona/Medivh. But that has a lot more interesting implications because of his corruption and all that.

Isn't Lothar supposed to literally just be the badass pillar of justice and good, and not the brooding emotional sop they turned him into?

Like I know Grommash gets a bigger role in 2, Turalyon, Danath, and Alleria pop in, Deathwing almost gets knocked off, and the Humans actually get their shit in gear.
>>
The worst part about the movie is it wasn't complete shit, but it wasn't really great either. It felt really lukewarm.

I do want to see a sequel though.
>>
>>341822273

I mean I liked it but it was nowhere near my favorite movie.

Maybe of this year, but that's just me liking Warcraft stuff.

>>
>>341822624

Maybe I just don't understand movie critic reviews, but going on Rotten Tomatoes to try and see why it got such low critic scores is fucking infuriating. People trying to claim that it's riding the Orc trend, when the movie has been in development for the last fucking decade. People comparing it to LotR despite INCREDIBLY different story structures. One lady commends the director for having the "vision" to show us both sides of the conflict, instead of having the story be about humans good guys orcs bad guys. Like, I know they want to have spoiler free reviews, and there are plenty of reasons to rate this movie low, but the critic reviews are so AWFUL.

I mean, if Blizzard doesn't have the money to shill some reviews, I dunno who does.

When the critic reviews are in the low 20s, and I struggle to find any with non-biased criticisms instead of things like the pacing and casting (both very valid criticisms), it's just saddening.

I actually read a bit of a theory on reddit in regards to this. Most of the fan critics gave it a solid review, more or less that it wasn't great but it wasn't bad, while 'professional critics' blasted it with exaggerations. Some said the Super Mario Bros. movie and Battlefield: Earth were better movies.

And this was during an apparent NDA two weeks before the movie released.

Whole thing goes around how Hollywood doesn't want Chinese film companies to cut in on what they have.

I actually think it's believable, in some ways.

Guys.

Warcraft 4 is never happening, and we can accept that.

But if this Warcraft trilogy picks up a lot of attention, do you think we could see a Warcraft reboot, with the first two Warcraft games in an updated RTS engine?

In fact, they were so good and looked so powerful, that when they had to take shortcuts and have the human heroes just cut them down one after the other, it felt really cheap.

I feel like it wouldn't have been that hard to visually show that the Humans needed to work together in pairs or something to deal with orcs, with a couple standout solo kills by Lothar or something. But the barely on screen single cut kills are just boring.

The orcs in this movie honestly looked realer than real. Top notch CGI, it outdid even Blizzard's own cinematics.

> They then go on trying to kill planets without him.

This gets me every time.

I see what he is trying to do, but wiping out all life in all dimensions and timelines is pretty fucked up regardless.

The issue is though that if he doesn't, the old gods show up and they're going to do things a thousand times worse than just kill people.

Azeroth got lucky by having strong ass god killing warriors that can take down the physical incarnations of the old gods when they show up, but it's heavily implied they can't actually die and will just respawn, and Azeroth is ONE fucking planet

It really comes down to whether you would want to die or almost inevitably have even more unspeakable horrors inflicted on you.

Sargeras essentially mercy kills, and even then he does it for the good of the future universe.

>Gul'dan
>Nothing wrong.
I'm sorry, anon.
Gul'dan did EVERYTHING wrong.

He fucked everything around him with his power hunger.

We don't really know why he wanted so much power, he probably had a reason, but this is what makes him cool, no one knows.

hes the biggest asshole in warcraft, and this is why he is a good character.

they are already remixing/patching wc3, they announced a legacy team working on older blizzard games last blizzcon. Also there are some fan projects porting wc3 to sc2 engine, but they currently only have the multiplayer stuff working and not even every race.

yeah that "for azeroth" shit triggered me. Why didn't they just say "for the alliance" or "for stormwind" since they were all alone against the horde
