All you're missing is Days, which details Roxas' year with Org13 and not only what Riku was doing during that time (both things given quick summary in KH2) but the story of Xion who seems to be setting up for a return in KH3 somehow; Coded, which was really just a refresher course while bringing up a plot point about important data involving all of the worlds; and Dream Drop Distance, which is leading straight into KH3 and the only one of the three actually vital to understanding anything.
Since most fans will probably buy 2.8 to play the prologue shit, Dream Drop Distance being packaged with it will help everyone get into the know-how, too. It also has text summaries of each game unlocked as you progress through the story.

Nomura intially said the length of one world months ago when it was first revealed. Then he just said this week that it would be more the length of one world in KH3 and it wouldn't be over in 30 minutes. It's supposed to have a lot of cutscenes and be pretty meaty from what I understand. He also had said that we would really only would be exploring Cinderella's castle but it looks like they've changed that up a bit.

Not necessarily that. I don't think that the textures or whatever are exactly done. Terra in the 0.2 looked like he just needed some shit and cloth and he'd be good, it looks like to me that some of the facial structure isn't being transferred over to the new style. Sora's nose looks too long and Riku's eyes look smaller than they should be. Funnily enough Terra's facial structure looks just fine, he just don't have a full set of eyelashes like he used to.
