1. Is this game still good even if I have no nostalgia for it?

2. What is the best version? I know it got a number of remakes and at least one is somewhat censored? The 3D effect of the 3DS doesn't work for me and I don't like playing handhelds, so I am leaning away from that version unless it's head-and-shoulders above the other versions.
>>
n64 master's quest if you want a challenge, else get whatever is comfortable. N64, Gamecube, 3DS, they're all okay
>>
Last time I played is when it came out and I fucking loved it so hard. I'd guess it's still good.

>>341705734 is the final answer, N64 master quests if you don't want the 3ds version with "updated" graphics.
>>
>>341705475

Yes.

3DS version is slightly better but not by much. N64 is fine and emulates nicely so you can go with that
>>
>>341705475

Games great.

Make sure you have an analog though
>>
>>341705475
Egoraptor told me no
>>
>>341705475
The 3DS one is plain superior.
>>
>>341705734
This. Oot dungeons were tedious and linear, but master quest is legitimately a 10/10 game.
>>
I've beaten this game 20 times and I'm still confused on the ending

why does Navi leave
>>
OoT 3D is really the best one.. the controls are more fluid thanks to the second screen taking care of all the items, maps, etc.

But if you dont want that, then just get the GameCube release that has Master Quest on it.
>>
>>341707652
>why does Navi leave

Maybe they had plans to make Majora's Mask already? It was a good excuse for Link to leave Hyrule and into Termina.
>>
>>341707652

that kills me.
Every time.
I want Navi back.
>>
>>341705475
The first time i played it was the 3ds version and i had a pretty good time with it.
I say give it a shot it seemed fine.
>>
>>341707652
She had no reason to befriend Link.
>>
>>341707915
seems like a weak excuse, I mean, majora's mask was likely already in planning stages, but they could of found any reason for link to wind up in Termina

>>341708174
She didn't, but I'd like to think they bonded during the adventure. And it wasn't as simple as leaving, considering Link spent the entirety of his life looking for her and didn't even find her, she was avoiding him. I just find it weird this is never addressed, no reason or where she went
>>
>>341707652
The Great Deku Tree only sent her to work with Link because he was a kid who was given a monumental task. Fairies are only supposed to be paired with Kokiri, not Hylians. After her task was completed, she had to go back to the forests so she could fulfill a contract to be paired with Kokiri.
>>
>>341705475
It's not broken but it does a lot of stupid shit in the way of fun.
>>
>>341708705
Are skull kids Kokiri? The two fairies in Majora's Mask weren't paired with any and seemed independent, and hung around with skull kid on their own choice
>>
I know someone who played OOT only about a year ago and he liked it. So sure, it's still enjoyable. Just try not to go into it expecting the best game ever, it's actually kinda slowly paced.

Go for either the N64 or GameCube version. Maybe emulate if you have a controller for your pc, as long as you're playing with a control stick.

>>341709752
Not him, but I think it's a safe enough assumption that Tatl and Tale were wild, as opposed to Navi who was a servant to the Deku Tree.

I don't really know why she left either, but I think the assumption that her commandment to follow Link being complete is the reason. That's not to say that they didn't bond during their time together, it's just that Navi has a duty to the forest or something and had to return to it. It's admittedly really vague. I assume the reason she left as immediately as she did was because she didn't want to have to say goodbye.
>>
>>341705475
The 3DS version is the "best" one, but if you are against handhelds then I suggest the gamecube version. It comes with masterquest, and the gamecube controller is more comfortable.
>>
>>341708693
>she was avoiding him
Kid had to grow on his own, Link should not rely on her but by the end of the story Link looks for her because she is the only thing left of his original life.
>>
>>341711109
I found it funny that Zelda sent Link back to before everything started getting fucked up and consequently, fucked the timeline up, so he could live out his childhood, but then he spends not only his childhood, but his adulthood looking for her.

>>341710840
That's actually really understandable, what adds to the confusion is the lack of any reaction from Link in the temple of time. He see's her fly away, and just walks away calmly as if understands, except he leaves everything behind after warning Zelda and goes looking for her
>>
>>341705475
Shut the fuck up, get a 3ds and play it.

This place is literally cancer.
Good riddance.

>hurr stop recommending 3DS

Nice brain damage
>>
>>341705475
It is still great. I played it myself for the first time back in 2010, and it became one of my favorite games ever.

1.0 N64 version is the definitive version.
>>
>>341705475
It's okay
3DS has the best framerate

The 3DS version is good if you want to play a censored version of Ocarina of Time.
OOT v1.0 is by far superior. I don't know how anyone can objectively think that the 3DS graphics are appealing.

>b-but muh 3D!
It was made for consoles
>>
>>341705475
1. Yes.

2. None is "better". 3DS has better graphics but N64 has better controls.
>>
>>341705475
>all these faggots crying censored

All they changed is a Religious symbol on the mirror shield, The Chanting in the Fire temple, and the color of blood from red to green. No biggies.

i would reccomend the 3ds version for portability and better looking models/textures. But the n64 version has a feel all its own.
>>
>>341707652
Link's not a kokiri, and Navi's a racist bitch
>>
>muh n64
>muh 13 fps
