Between the memo and todd mentioning that they need more tech for the next TES, its almost confirmed that valenwood is the next location.
They need the tech for the moving tree cities

They could, but that'd be dumb

So far each region post Daggerfall has been to accurate scale. I don't see a reason why they would stop doing that now.

Besides, adding Elswyr brings so much more potential, since the Khajiit and Bosmer are mortal enemies with a fuckton of history, but are forced into an alliance.

There aren't many walking trees, all walking trees are group of trees together with the giant walking Tree City Falinesti.
Falinesti has rooted itself before Oblivion crisis and it has never been stated if Falinesti has started to move again.
It's also a tower and most likely was deactivated.

>>341688821
SummerSet did not allow any non-Altmer on the Isles even during the Empire, only a few diplomats here and there.
Non-Altmer literally do not live on SummerSet, they don't even have much use for slaves because most of their cities are magiteched to fuck.
Same goes for Valenwood, difference being that Valenwood is so hostile that most races do not want to live there anyway, you cut off a tree or pick a flower and bunch of Bosmerniggers jump out and shoot your ass.

That's a big problem. We'll never see those areas unless they retcon it, or they give us multiple provinces, because the casual audience will not want to play in a world with nothing but elves or cat people.

I can't believe you guys are still hopeful for the next Elder scrolls game. It's just going to be like FO4 all over again, shitty dialogue, no RPG elements, shitty generic quests, unmemorable story that will make no sense, the lore will probably be fucked to hell and back, you're character will have a predetermined backstory and if it is set in valenwood there will most likely be no moving tree cities in the game at all. Witcher is a completely different game and you know it, more importantly majority of the audiences feel it.
Bethesda games are shoddily made, but still unique games, they are
>open as much as possible fuck around simulators
Perfect formula for the most time sinkiest genre possible and perfect for big audiences.

Witcher is a more linear game with set amount of hunts and quests, it has an ending and despite it being more open than Witcher 1 and 2 it is at the same time more linear in it's interaction with the world than any TES game, both on mechanical level like picking random shit up and throwing it around and even on the quest level, where most of the quest branches in Witcher come as defined points where you actually chose as opposed to TES quests that when done good can be altered by pure agency of the player.

Now Witcher 3 is a better game, but it is also a lot more classical in what it does and how it does. Bethesda to this day has no competitors in this genre, because at the end of the day when I completed Witcher I felt great and comfy but only replayability value came from trying to do harder difficulty, as opposed to Skyrim which might be casualized shit but you have more random agency in the world itself.
Of course there is also an argument about mods, with TES games being a lot more of an open system you can actually mod them to be survival simulators or rape dungeon games as opposed to Witcher where mods will never be of the same intricacy and fidelity, I mean look at stuff like Tamriel Rebuil and Enderall.

What's even the point of making any more Elder Scrolls if they won't live up to Breath of the Wild?
>>
>>341700750

If Breath of the Wild can manage to be half as good as Skyrim when it comes out.
>>
>>341700750
Mainly for the roleplay elder scrolls provides, in zelda games your objectives and progression are quite linear whereas you can pick and choose almost all aspects of your progression in elder scrolls games, along with better customization to role play with.

I sincerely hope we don't get voice acted main characters in the next elder scrolls, fallout 4 really suffered by having a voiced protag.
>>
>>341681990
Elsweyr and the Khajiits are not marketable to the console audience. There's a reason why they made Cyrodiil a temperate forest instead of the jungle it was supposed to be - because they want to make it dudebro-friendly. Skyrim was the obvious next choice in the line of appealing to console players. Next one is going to be Hammerfell.
>>

>>
>>341700643
yes, a linear open world
there is an element of linearity in any game no matter how open it claims to be
witcher 3 prefers linearity to it's quest progression, world is divided into instances and player agency is somewhat limited in favor of a more streamlined and focused experience
you know exactly what I mean
>>
Why would anyone want a game sent in the limp wristed pansy elf land?
>>
>>341701117
>Console boogeyman ruining muh games
>Blatant baseless assertions
Forest is a much better location for the capital than a jungle, forest are much more fertile and spacious, a jungle would have just convoluted the atmosphere.

It's more a stylistic choice to better show the empires might by using majestic forests rather than creepy damp and humid jungles. Probably the best choice bethesda ever made was to set the best game in the series in the best biome.

>>
>>341700750
Are people on /v/ all under 18? Or do you just play one sort of game for your whole life?
I honestly do not understand how people can have experience, played through thousands of games and not realize the core differences in games, both what they provide and what people expect of them.

Breath of Wild is going to be even more streamlined than Witcher 3, it's open world is there for completely different reasons. People that play TES want to sit in an inn before going out to slay some monsters, deliver bounty to their faction etc. when aspects of TES games are done right it gives a feeling very close to that of a pen and paper tabletop RPG with a GM that is more into sandboxing than railroading.

>>
>>341682054

>>
>>341701584
The Aztecs and Mayas had huge cities in "jungles", get the fuck out of here with that pseudoscience. Also, there's nothing more fertile than a jungle.
>It's more a stylistic choice
You will see that it isn't, because they will never make a game around Valenwood, Elsweyr, Black Marsh, Akavir or any of these console kiddie-unfriendly areas. What you will see is Hammerfell, perhaps with High Rock added to it, and then in the future they might do the entire continent, but you will never see them create a game around the furry or gay elves and try to sell it to the CoD kid audience.
>>
I'd love it if the next game was set in Summerset. Any province would be fine really as long as it's not Hammerfell. Too many niggers there.

>>
>>341702065

>>
>>341702550
Not at all. I'm demonstrating that their number one priority is appealing to the knuckledragging, mouthbreathing low IQ 12-year-old console subhumans. Ok? Every design decision is geared towards that, and it started with Oblivion.

Morrowind was still faithful to lore and everything, but then they went the dudebro way.
>>
>>341701584
Except for we know or a fact that Cyrodiil was dumbed down because of Ken Rolston and several other old fags that hated MK's and Kuhlmanns work and wanted Cyrodiil to be more like in Arena, plus LOTR came out which game them further power.

It wasn't just Cyrodiil, they removed cultural differences between Nibenese and Colovnians and generally anything that was quirky and strange about Cyrodiil, all of it, even most of the Roman motives are missing and it looks more like a generic medieval shit.

It was so easy to fix this too

>White Gold Tower is where Nirn is
>Districts are distributed according to bodies of Aedra, obviously temple of the One is located where Akatosh is
>Serpent is Imperial Guards
>Mages guild is located where Magnus is
Wonder if there are more cities built to be fucking structures that make Towers near them or in them even more powerful. I imagine that to some extent a lot of SummerSet cities might be built in a similar fashion, of course Crystal Like Law is fucked bu still, structures that immitate Aurbis are always neat.

It's not, I can clearly see what this guy is trying to achieve though and he is failing at it.

Also I can go on a rant about how despite art not being objective it sort of is because ultimately our subjective preference of different aspects and techniques or art will be similar due to the fact that we are same species, grow up in similar cultures and get influenced by similar memes so there are ways to create maximum response and stimuli in largest audience, but whatever.

But more objective point is that concept art is not actually art.
I am a concept artist myself and one of the first things that you need to get hammered into your head is that when you are making concpet art of a game you are making a blueprint for a product.
Lighting you are making has to be as similar to the final filters and lighting of the game as possible, style of your art will influence the models and textures of the game, atmosphere and sense of scale in your art will at least partially translate to the game etc.
That pic is not concept art, there is nothing in it that would provide enough information for the rest of the dev team to be useful, nor is it well done enough to be a promo art, it's just fan art.
Pic related is environmental concept art with a purpose to set the atmosphere and aesthetics.

variety of spell effects and combinations was pretty fun, and yes it being broken and OP was fun too, but ultimatley it felt good because you that magic was somewhat real because of how many effects there were, especially morrowind
People making you heavier then punching you to death, or variety of damage over time or direct damage spells, levitation, telekinesis etc. all of this felt like it was something someone would find useful and create with magic when magic gives you that much power as opposed to just fireballs and lightnings.

Big fucking deal, we don't know for sure if you are a Shezzarine, there have been at least 6 of them before and that's not counting other TES protags who can be rationalized to be Shezzarines also.

If you think that Alduin is the biggest danger there is, I am sorry to burst your bubble but even fucking organized orders like the Psijic pose a far greater threat to the world as it is right now, Kalpa has went on for too long without resetting and certain mortals and Ada got waaaay too powerful, shit like Numidium exists that trumps any Et'Ada and it was made by mortals.

Fallout 4

Nuka World

What's questionable there is the fact that "Elder Scrolls" is not to be discussed at E3 2014 by BGS employees.
They had Elder Scrolls Online at E3 2014 which you could say well that's not BGS and the Zenimax Online team have nothing to do with BGS really it would make no sense for them to get this memo from BGS,different studios working on completly different projects.

there's a pretty good chance the leak is legit since fallout 4 is out and we know a lot of things now

>>
>>341709143
It is playable...well the thing is that depends on what you want from it.
If you are a lore purist who hates lore being fucked in favor of MMOishness you will hate it, like me. And I have to give ESO dues where they are due, they try to do lore, even deep lore like that letter where Dwemer are stated to basically time traveling wizards...but a lot of it feels forced and they have not fixed the fuck ups they've made with Amulet of Kings nor can they, and when they can't portray something because MMO limitations it's just pure shit, like Wildhunt in Mane quest looks like red glowing bosmer...Yes, The fucking Wild Hunt is just red glowing "feral" Bosmer.
>>
>>341709231
He is a really old developer and a hardcore classical DnD/LOTR faggot. During Morrowind he was the anchor that balanced out Kirkbride so that Morrowind did not go full magitech sci-fi, once MK and Kuhlmann left he fucked up Oblivion and went full generic fantasy...then he left and Knights of The Nine with time Traveling Pelinal written by Kirkbride happened and Shivering Isles.
After that they re-hired Kuhlmann mid production of Skyrim and tried to artificially inject the stranger lore back into Skyrim while again artificially balancing it out, hence why a lot of Skyrim feel uninspired (though some of the new lore is neat).
What I mean by artificial is that it was more of a conscious decisions made by Todd and whole team as opposed to writers and devs letting it go creatively and doing what they want.
I guess both can work but seein how beth is going full

>>
>>341710918
Crystal Like Law was destroyed due to Oblivion Crisis, no sane fundamentalist Aldmer would ever break a tower created specifically to achieve Dracochrysalis and escape Mundus.
>White Gold
Was destroyed when Amulet of Kings was broken, statue of Akatosh/Martin holds the veil now and it's technically a Tower.
>Tree Sap
Rooted itself during Oblivion crisis.
>Snow Throat
The only one that can be argued.

Listen most of the towers don't actually hold reality together. Red mountain did and Red mountain is fucked now because you freed the Heart of Lorkhan in Morrowind. Adamantine was the UR tower and it also holds Mundus together, but it's too early to fuck with it. Talos is obviously another one that they have to go after because he is convention 2.0.
But shit like Numidium, Crystal Like Law, White Gold etc. are Towers, sure, they imitate wheel/tower structure of Aurbis to manipulate, but all of these serve different purposes, Numidium was for apotheosis, Crystal Like Law is an escape route, White Gold was created to center the power so to say (whoever holds the White Gold Tower holds all of Tamriel).

This is a big and long one but here we go

Amulet of Kings can not be accessed by any deity other than Akatosh and it's power can not be properly utilized by anyone but Dragonborn, that is a major point in Oblivion also because Mankar Camoran is a Dragonborn, hence why Dagon needed him to use the Amulet. Amulet in fact can't be even worn properly by anyone who does not have the Dragon blood.

Amulet of Kings was in Sancre Tor until Hjalti together with Wulfharth found it, in ESO the five broskis already found it in the tomb of reman and took it out for the whole duration of ESO's main quest, more importantly after ESO's main quest Tharn steals the Amulet and keeps it in Imperial city for a long time. This completely fucks with the notion that literally no one knew where the Amulet was hidden since Reman dynasty fell, this also fucks with the idea that Sancre Tor was first fucked by Hjalti and Wulfharth, not to mention the most obvious and glaring mistake, for history to go on as it should Tharn should lose the amulet, or he himself should take the amulet and then for unknown reason they have to go to Sancre Tor, find secret sealed Tomb of Reman again, place it on the dead corpse of Reman II again, seal it a way that it will seem like no one has been there, again AND most importantly forget about Sancre Tor, erase all information about Amulet of Kings and leave Sancre Tor for long enough so that it will get occupied. This make absolutely zero sense especially considering how soon the Talos conquest happens, I mean it's literally the same era like 300 years away. All of ESO struggles are pointless because they end with Talos conquering everything.

Amulet of Kings demonstrably broke when all of it's power was used by Martin to summon Avatar of Akatosh, which in turn was only powerful enough to strike down Mehrunes Dagon on Nirn and seal the veil again...
cont.
>>
>>341679227
>it looks like it could be a professional logo

Go back to school, get educated, socialize. Stop making stupid shit up like 'hurrr its professional!!!'
>>
>>341713538
>>341714350
You do the same thing in ESO quest except for you do it with a ritual, difference being is that
>You do not die or break your mortal form to turn into avatar of Akatosh
>You are not a Dragonborn, especially since there are several beings which are dead Dragons transformed and even just dead Dragoconic bodies which you don't absorb. No one and nothing refers to you as such and Talos being the only Dragonborn in this era is major point, Greybeards would fucking shout out of their ass and call you otherwise.
>When you do the ritual and absorb the amulets power it does not break and somehow will just restore it's power eventually
>You fight Molag Bal in his own realm and manage to actually defeat him again in his own realm with just a shard of Lorkhanic/Akatoshic power
>You also magically seal the veil without re-lighting the dragonfires or creating a new covenant
>Molag Bals' coil being destroyed in his realm somehow stops his conquest for no apparent reason
I could go on, but ignoring the inconsistency with lore, the worst thing that ESO main quest does is that it makes Martin's death stupid.
>Fuck it, this is my last chance and I know it will fucking kill me...but I have to use my soul together with all of the souls in the Amulet and incarnate as Dragon God of Time himself if we have even the slightest chance to save Mundus
And it turns out that his heroic sacrifice was pointless and stupid because apparently Amulet of Kings without breaking and without the need of a Dragonborn can grant power strong enough to "slay" a Daedric Prince in his own realm and it also restores the fucking veil magically without re-lighting Dragonfires OR creating a new covenant.
It's a giant mess.

That statement is not contradictory to what I've stated.

Bethesda games have become simpler over time. Proportionally, they have become more successful. Therefore, they have no incentive to change their design philosophy: continued simplification = greater profit
>>
How mad would everyone be if Bethesda introduced a completely new location not in any prior lore as a setting?
>>
>>341710573
I kind of like how they added more inner politics and history going on (the heritance faction trying to oust Ayrenn and install her brother and his wife), the reachmen being relevant, the deal with the Gold Coast storyline. Makes the world feel more grounded and believable, if you can get past the PVP Alliances
>>
>>341716490
It's possible, depends on where it is.
We don't know much about Sword Isles and anything south of Tamriel.
>>
>>341716751
They added the wrong type of inner politics at the wrong fucking time, most importantly at the expense of established lore.
The problem is that they wanted to pick a time period that was not too strange yet would be open enough for interpretation so they chose fucking Interregnum...which is a terrible idea because it's right around the corner for Tiber's conquest which is extremely well documented and if some strange shit happened in ESO that contradicts the period of conquest it can not be brushed off unless you involve metafuckery like Dragonbreaks.

At the same time, since I am a guy that was extremely disappointed by ESO shitting on lore which I care the most about while expanding the lore which I cared less about, I feel sort of good knowing that literally everything in ESO is pointless and ends with Tiber, Zurin and Wulfharth OP Cheat hax pls nerfing all of Nirn and erasing all the effort that any faction put forth in ESO.
>>
>>341716779
That's kind of alluded to in prior lore

I'd rather prefer Akavir itself stay mysterious, maybe dropping more hints and teasers along the way. (A yagrum bargrum type memorable character that is one of its kind but is clearly a Snake-person?)
>>
>>341678920
Valenwood is no longer an imperial province, it will not have the dragon emblem anymore. Also it is the best province because we have two towers left Greensap and Adamantia, and Adamantia is the main one, so they cant have it yet

also, I am pretty sure bethesda mentioned that the trees have stopped moving, why would they mention it unless they are planning to release a game in that province? they always simplify the setting before releasing a title
>>
>>341717024
It's still one of many relative blank slates in Tamriel's timeline. Tiber is still 300 years away. There could be any number of wars and assassinations and the like during that span.

I enjoyed reading about the individual happenings and lifes of the Septim rulers, and of course Potema's war is one that sounds awesome. The autist in me would like a relatively complete timeline of everything happening in Tamriel (things being more difficult and broad to place in the earliest era of course). As of now it's kind of jumpy and riddled with blank areas, which presumably aren't actually blank. But you're absolutely right that Molag Bal invading mundus at the exact same time of total war is too much
>>
>>341716218
but why would you think New Vegas fans are the ones that believe Todd has seen the error of his ways

They are usually his harshest critics
>>
>>341717024
Isn't the entirety of ESO a big Dragonbreak? It's the only way to justify such a deep level of lore-fucking.

>lol reset button, none of this actually happened

>>
>>341718315
According to them, no. The characters and events are all canon and will be treated as such in the future- according to them.

But there are things clearly not as they should be. Not even the 'loljungle' thing, but you see books in the game world that were written centuries later into the future, by authors presumably not born yet. One of these examples even has a NPC that was in oblivion mentioned in the book. And they said that this whole book-timeline shit is actually intentional and part of an upcoming storyline...so if that isn't implying a Dragon Break then I don't know what the hell it is
