Pic unrelated.

Matt just plays a game and writes a ton about the design and what he likes/dislikes, then reads it.

This isn't building up speed for 12 hours or raising scuttlebugs for 13 hours to cut out even a half-a press from a single star TAS. Heavy TASing like this is true autism.

That doesn't make sense. He mentioned that the Any% run is 1 A press because of one of the Bowser levels, but if he could figure out how to get rid of that press he would also get rid of some of the 0.5 A presses to make the run 0 A presses. "Here is the 100% ABC Route, done in 31 A Presses. The time estimate is 66 hours and 33 minutes, though the final video is expected to be around 5 hours 30 minutes since repetitive sequences will be fast forwarded.
In this route, I collect every star and beat the game using as few A presses as possible. This is by no means the most efficient route; it just shows one potential way to do it. All half A presses are rounded down in the truncated column, because they are all preceded by a full A press at some point, and so that previous A press can simply be held out to be made use of for the half A press. Where necessary, I combine the 100 coin star with a regular star if it saves any A presses. I also do this for Tick Tock Clock, because this means one fewer time having to enter the painting, which itself costs one A press. I also show each star’s requirements, including which caps are required, which cannons are required, which Bowser keys are required, the number of stars required, and which course versions are required. To learn more about the course versions, see the last page.

Could be that he can't get them into a walled area otherwise.

If there are some floors between the area he wants them in and the area he can get them into, it could be impossible to have them fall there, but still possible to raise them to next QPU, interact with a wall there, snap back to the walled-in area and then raised into correct positions.

So I like to have a few beers after work and shitpost on here, how can any of you defend spending your younger years, the supposed best time of your life playing a 20 year old videogame for a living, and a shitty one at that because at least the streamers and "pro" players of the more popular games make substantial money.

Also it's not even about the money, I'd rather be a fucking hobo than spend my day doing inane shit like that, at least I'd be getting fresh air.

Even fucking friendless NEETs at least get variety in the shit they play and see all day.

I don't really care what people think, I honestly don't see how could anyone enjoy that life, do you truly believe he goes to bed at whatever time he goes to bed with a smile on his face? Do you think he is happy with his social relations with his family and friends, let alone a romantic one?

A man is more than a hobby, I happen to enjoy my job but if I got fired I'd probably would still get a shittier one and be happy with the other things that make my life. If he truly is happy by spending months of his life doing this, then all the power to him.

He's not even close to being the only one that wastes his life, we all do to different degrees. At the end of the day if you find what makes you truly happy then I guess you made it.

His videos are fascinating, I don't give a fuck who calls him an autist for what he does. Even if people think he's wasting his time on a goal that's kinda stupid, I think what's more important than anything is how he breaks the game down to its 1s and 0s and demonstrates it to his audience in an easy to understand way. In a way, it's helping people feel passionate about what goes behind video game development. And even if you don't apply the information he shares in your life, it's still really fucking neat.

have you ever considered for a second that maybe you don't know this man beyond what's presented on his youtube channel, and are making very large assumptions about his life with that limited knowledge?

not to mention the fact that you're clearly contradicting yourself, saying its unlikely he's happy, and then giving a glorified "do what makes you happy" at the end of your post

and for someone who says he doesnt care what others think, you're really trying to push the fact that you are satisfied with your life and are implying you have a better one, when nobody really gives a shit or asked in the first place

It's a 20 year old game, anon. Dozens if not hundreds of speedrunners and TASers have had enough time to stumble upon them on their own. Why not join your country's conservative populist nationalist movement, or other, with fascist overtones? Every country has them: They let you wear armbands and other paraphernalia. Such fringe groups have been picking up in popularity in the past several years, even breaching into the mainstream in places like Greece and other countries in a dire predicament. Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia5YkZfz-_4&feature=youtu.be
Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0B8lsKEyiw&feature=youtu.be

Here we have an extremely attractive, and seemingly intelligent, young Polish woman, who speaks of her journey into the rapidly rising far-right political movement in her struggling nation.

During the course of several months, nineteen year old Paulina offered to share her most intimate daily thoughts and actions with a reporter and camera crew from Britain's borderline-Marxist publication The Guardian, mainly focusing on an unsuccessful campaign for a seat on her hometown's local council.

While her bid for a position of authority did not come to fruition, and young Paulina seems wavering at the end of video number two, we are allowed a surprisingly balanced, at least for this first half video, look into the social, political, and racial worldview of Poland's National Radical Camp organization, which can be accurately and positively described as gritty, realistic, and to the point.

Ideological, physical fitness, and weapons training are also experienced during the course of the analysis; all essential for keeping morale and strength high among youth so easily led astray by those who wish them harm.

When it comes to the aspects of meaning which is clearly and explicitly meant by the use of the A button, in this case, he has been very open about it. He has given a very concise, formal terminology for what is meant by what he has stated in regards to the A button: the relation that the term has to objects and objective situations, and the relation that the button has to other predicaments, most especially the sorts that have been painstakingly laid out in his videos.

Why do you think that your single remark is somehow a valid refutation of the now vast corpus of literary works and videos he has made available on the subject matter? Why are you being such an uncontentious memer?

No wait, I misread what you said, what you said is a valid observation.

>being passionate about something and enjoying your hobbies makes you "damaged"
he seems like he'd enjoy his hobby way more than the average vidya player who just plays games to effortlessly shoot or sneak around some braindead AI or god forbid just get suckered into some skinner box trash.
way better than shitposting about some twitter drama or whatever too.

I haven't encountered any of them in real life that I can remember but I'm with you, it always pisses me off when I come to these threads and see posts like that.
I haven't really got any right to look down on others, but it still seems so sad to me to see people who seem completely unable to comprehend the notion of doing something for the intrinsic enjoyment of the act, who don't get people who do things there's no "point" to.

These must be the same retards who get depressed and kill themselves because there's no "point" to life.

>days of effort

He writes scripts to do his scuttlebug raising for him. And every credible video maker on YT has spent more than a day on editing, sometimes even a month or more.

I wish I had a hobby as interesting as his.
Not only is he pretty intelligent with a well-paying job, but his hobby has made him famous among some small followings. That's pretty cool.
