I hadn't considered that, but I find it really unlikely that a developer would want to create a game for an inferior piece of hardware simply because it has the Sony name on it. Maybe they like some of the people at sony that cut them the checks or something like that, but it isn't as if sony is the only beneficent publisher out there.
But at the end of the day, sales drive competition first, publisher relationship second. Without the sales, the publisher would just drop or swallow you.
