I really, firmly believe they should have ended the series at revelations. The game should have been 3 or 4 times as long, and should have been the conclusive end to the official assassins creed story line. Meh, revelations was ok. I enjoyed it, but like I said in the thread already, I really truly believe it should have been many times longer, and the conclusive end to the series.
They could have still made all these gay little "before desmond becomes jesus" games where you're working for abstergo or whatever the fuck AC is about anymore, but revelations could have and should have been a lot better.

The thing is, they are the only developer I really think that would do a good job with the setting. They are amazing at building large scale urban environments that are climbable and are reasonably historically accurate.
I think anybody else would just make the game nothing but combat and wouldn't focus enough on the architecture /urban/civil parts of the Aztecs which is actually where they are most interesting.
