I mean take Uncharted 4 for example, there's way more CPU heavy stuff happening in multiplayer and that's 60fps, and what changes happen for that to happen? Lower resolution and downgraded models, gpu stuff.

Best they can do at this point is overclock parts of it to lessen the gap marginally. They'll probably count on having a big enough existing market to ride the gap through, just like plenty of people are buying Xboxes even with the performance gap between it and PS4.

Half that reports on the showfloor are that GT Sport is still really awful (And Sony not having their biggest selling IP of all time on their stage show is really telling about that game's quality), Gravity Rush 2 still has most of the problems of the first and doesn't fix much and they are so insistent on their anti-PC stance that they didn't feature any of their big indies like Pyre, Abzu or even No Man's Sky there (And indie devs were pissed because Pyre would have been amazing for that orchestra)

Not only do we have tons of AAA games that are multiplat, you also have the growing indie game community that produces a few gems a year. And then after all that. Bethesda's lighting engine was designed for systems back in the days of Morrowind meant for high clocked single core CPUs.
The only thing in Skyrim I couldn't run maxed on my Phenom II x4 + HD6970 was the shadows. I could throw more characters, higher resolution textures, higher detail geometry, etc; and my frame rate barely changed. Changing the shadows down a single notch from max increased my frame rate 50% from 40-60fps

PS4/Xbone quality to a high end 4k PC? There is a noticeable gap, but the gap between the two gets smaller each gen. New consoles get less impressive each gen.

PS1 to PS2 to PS3 to PS4.
Current gen is barely better than last gen. (I have a Wii u and a PS4, as well as a gaming PC, and a 3ds). They really need to wait out this generation, with Neo/Scorpio as the bridge, give it another 3-5 years.
