Maybe if you are like one on of those people who got 500 hours out of GTA3 just driving a tank around, you might like it, it's boring to me

If I want a bunch of tools to mess around with enemies, MGS V is much better for that; laughing at bad ragdolls and looting random mobs for loot is not what I'd expect from a Zelda game

These fellas are spot on. I don't want to demonize the new Zelda game or criticize the fans who are hyped for it, but I must express worry about a game that did pretty well in a smaller world with defined areas. Making a giant overworld just screams risk, and empty areas that will see no use.

It's like Hyrule Field from OOT. It's big and expansive, but it was freaking empty. The worst part of the map. People say the water temple is bad, but backtracking through that mess of a map is poor game design, and was s bad that they needed to give you songs to skip walking through it over and over.

Says you, I don't care personally for open world games. Xenoblade bored the tar out of me, GTA isn't my flavor, The Witcher is eh, and so on.

I prefer more structured games, kind of like Metroidvanias, but they need to be made well or they risk falling to backtracking fever.

Open world sandbox games are just a chore. Collectables and stupid boring side missions to fill up the gaps and then a short shitty story that doesnt even take you to 40% of the games locations.

The only company that makes worthwhile open world games is rockstar and they were better during the ps2 era because the scope wasnt as big. I like focus on my games, level design and progression. You can absolutely have exploration as well, witcher 2 was a good example. Huge open areas in a linear fashion following a linear story with some branches.

I don't agree with the lack of time to explore in games because I love exploration to a fault but I feel you on the television thing. I am not watching multiple seasons of hour long episodes for a story, especially when most tv is just character drama often times forced and underdeveloped with characters seemingly changing in their behavior or belief just to manufacture more drama for filler episodes
