I'm kinda sorry for the poor kids that are going to make their parents spend 600 dollars in a VR that their kid will use 6 times

They will have to make extra hour. Not everyone is lucky and rich like us.
>>
>>341562053
So the people against VR are all poorfags huh.
It can't just be that some people think it's a gimmick like everything else before it.
You are very enlightened.
>>
>>341562053
Wealthy or poor, you're an idiot if you buy a VR headset and fall into the meme pool.
>>
>>341562053
There will be kids that beg for VR
They will beg for the Scorpio NX and Neo
>but we just bought you that $600 headset Billy, maybe for your birthday...maybe
>>
>>341565265
VR isn't so hassle-free as with your typical console gaming experience tends to be. I can't wait for the kid to trip and fall on their faces at the living room instead of properly setting it up as one ought to be with Oculus and Vive on PC.
>>
My parents actually bought me a PS4 instead of a gaming PC because "we already have a computer"

I stayed in my room for 3 days and pretended to be dead. Fuck em.
>>
>>341562053
VR is a gimmick just like motions controls were, it was fun for a while but then everyone went back to traditional controllers
After how many hours of turning your head or spinning around in a chair will you decide tilting a stick is simply easier?
>>
I got my ps4 for 100 dollars so a vr experience for me will total 500 dollars. Seems good to me.
>>
>>341565858
lmao this ungrateful twat
>>
>>341567094
Devs are pushing VR very hard and I think its a bit more than just a lame gimmick.

Killing Floor Incursion is basically a standalone just for VR, Serious Sam is getting a standalone title with VR, FO4 is getting official VR support (on consoles no less), Minecraft has official VR support...

The only problem I have with VR is room scale shit. Just take one of those vive motion controllers and slap a joystick on it. No one wants to walk around their fucking house, they want to SIT DOWN and play.
>>
>>341567094
>joystick controls
>better than VR
Kek, consoletoddlers.
>>
>>341567094
>VR is a gimmick
Spot the casual consolecuk.

The head mounted display and the motion controls are both peripherials, maybe in consoles are gimmicks to "improve" the cinematic experience.
But on pc its just another device, wich improves the existing experience, but the console version will only work with the selected and developed exclusives.
On PC you can use shit like vorpx and play alot of games.
>inb4 i want to run and shit
Wait and buy an omni, but it will be also for PC only, and it will cost like $800 more.
If you dont have the money to buy all that you are a casual, not a poorfag, a poorfag will use shit like google cardboard or find a used DK2 for coins.
A casual, will set a cost limit, and it will go to a store thinking this shit is like buying a console, put the disk and press X to VR.
It will end up buying a alienware or any gaymen premade shit, throw a coin to decide which one to buy and then come to /v/ and create ""VR"" hate threads because the games on the "store" are shit, and he dosent know how to even configure the most user friendly possible software.
>>
>>341568217
>moving your head
>moving a mouse
which do you think neckbeards like yourself rather do?
>>
>>341568258
I'm a casual because I think VR is a gimmick?
That's right only hardcore gamers think VR is revolutionary and is going to turn the gaming world on it's head
Sorry to break it to you but unless future games all decide to use VR then it's just a gimmick that only a select few will choose to invest it
>>
>>341568368
Moving your head because its more immersive you fucking idiot. Thats the whole point. Its fine to not like something but at some point you have to realize that it clearly appeals to people. Not to mention VR is in no way trying to replace mouse and keyboard. You'd never use VR to play something like CPM. You would use VR to play something like Dirt Rally.
>>
>>341568368
Whichever ends up being more precise. Unlike consolekeks who are cucked by a proprietary $10 standard controller that has the control to allow for a 360 turn in 5 seconds, I will simply pick the objectively better option without corporate dick getting in my throat.

You keep marketing for your console manufacturer of choice, I'll actually try all the devices and pick the best thing for every situation. VR is promising.
>>
>>341568635
Bethesda is one of the biggest devs in gaming right now and are making an officially supported VR mode for Fallout 4 and on consoles too no less.

What about Microsoft? Multi-billion dollar company putting official VR into one of their biggest franchises.

At what point does it stop being a gimmick to you?
>>
>>341568217
>>341568368
>>341568729

VR is not meant for anything that involves CPM/APM or in twitch shooters such as the likes of Quake, CSGO or even Overwatch.

There is no replacing VR for sim games, but that shit's niche market.
>>
>>341568635
>I'm not a casual
>popularity argument
You just proved yourself wrong 10 words after your claim - why did you bother posting at all?

We get it, you're poor. You'll not use VR. I'm sure games will also work without VR, there is no need to rationalize, Timmy.
>>
>>341567552
>Killing Floor Incursion is basically a standalone just for VR, Serious Sam is getting a standalone title with VR
Both of which are shallow shooting galleries, roughly equivalent to party games on the wii.
>>
>>341568853
Good job reiterating what I said you fucking idiot. You don't even know what CPM is you fucking casual.
>>
if VR is so great then why does it have to be constantly defended

why do we have people unironically defending $15 shovelware as "promising"
>>
>>341568853
Overwatch is not a twitch shooter. Unless you meant twitch as in the stream service, because that was definitely the target audience.
>>
Fuck poorfags.

>I think this head mounted displays are new tech
>i think this should be the second coming of christ, if not it will fail
>i should be in the matrix or it will fail
>it will not take off

I know it was you.

Look kid, shill, pajeet or whatever the fuck you are (if you are a human)

Sims have this shit since long ago, and its because of the LE HARDCORE SIMFAGS you hate that the head mounted display tech evolved using cellphone screens, if not you will be creating threads of WHY I CANT HAVE VR...

This is not new, this is just ANOTHER FUCKING DEVICE

did you understand that little last part????

A FUCKING ACCESORY LIKE YOUR DRAGON DILDO.

And it will evolve through time, from red monochrome screens, to a 640x480 tiny screen, to the dk1... and on and on.

No matter how many hate threads you make, this will keep going, if you care to play toddlies4 or any other shit that wont take real advantages of using motion and position tracking and will focus on the controls, then do it, and call it a gimmick, because it is with that narrow minded (paid?) idea....

They really need to get rid of the cable and make it lighter and more compact with higher DPI.

Nothing great. You can play war thunder and Flight simulator.
>>
>>341562053
VR is cool but too expensive for what it is worth now unless you are a die hard enthusiast.

perhaps by the next generation the current HMDs will be significantly cheaper. Not like you won't be able to use the older HMDs when new ones come out it is like upgrading your monitor.

Unless sony releases a new HMD for PS5 and doesn't support their previous model. That would be a dick move, doubt they will do it but then again they do sell "remasters" and suckers sony up the cash for what is essentially a port with minor changes in detail.

Microsoft are dickwads as well, but at least they have a decent idea of allowing cross compatibility and portability. Sure enough they too will fuck it up once they gain back sizeable market share and get cocky.
>>
>>341569561
I've more than rationalized it cause I do actually play sim games. They don't count as games to the likes of you though.

I dont know.
You could tell me the games you like.
But i also know that the games you like are not for "VR" because the game was not created arround VR or it wont take advantages of it.

>playing a 3rd person cover shooter with a HMD
>playing a hack and slash with a HMD
TOP KEK..

You can stop now, you know this shit is for sims, and nothing else, the rest is forced bullshit, and thats why people think its a gimmick, because they cant see the whole context of it.
Not mention the good genes of the users
>motion sickness
>wear glasses
>eye strain
>any other "medical" condition wich is not healty

Pic related is the most ovbious reason why something like a HMD is way better than any other setup.
>inb4 i dont get it
Look at the mirror possition.
>>
>>341572024
This. I fell in love with P-51, P-38 and Spitfire all over again. I don't even care about dogfighting anymore. Just the ability to be one with the virtual machine and strap the machine on you has convinced me that there's no going back.
>>
I like how you fags refuse to acknowledge that VR is the last word to virtual waifu, idolshit and porn games, as well as the lessor application in MMO.
Once you've gone HMD that supports VR and AR, you can fuck you're waifu doggy style. There's even USB haptic feedback dildo/onahole at work.

Well I had no problem playing QuakeVR on a DK2.

The headtracking is rarely meant for aiming or controlling anything, it's for looking around.

Think of it less as a controller and more an evolution of wraparound monitors or multi-screen setups. It shows you more of the gameworld than any of them could.
>>
>>341572024

No. Firmly PC. Go to a microsoft store and sign up for the instore demo and see for yourself.

HA i want to see that, oh, i have that.

Vid related is surely a person playing a racing or a flight sim with this shit, and its also a very hardcore gamer, and i had another HMD before, so it has experience of not getting motion sickness, or go out of "bounds" or just FUCKING IT UP LIKE SHE DID HOLY SHIT.

I think Roomscale looks great but I agree with you that it shouldn't be everything.

I miss the DK2 days, where VR support just meant implementing 3D and headtracking support on top of the regular game. Simple enough for most engines.

Now all these devs are being told they need to redo everything for small walking spaces with teleport mechanics or not do VR at all. It's going to restrict support.
>>
>>341574852
Couldn't we use VorpX to make older games work? Been wondering if it's worth the asking price.
>>
>>341574721
Bait posts don't work if you're being too obvious.

>>341575986
Never tried it but from what I've read, it never as good as native support. The game might have 3D or a depth channel VorpX can use but the headtracking is basically your mouse.

That anon is being blatantly stupid and cocky. Any idiot would know that those type of games would be played sitting down.

Plus you'd have to be clinically blind to think the girl in that webm was running out of bounds. Her leg got caught on the cable and she stumbled forward, trying not to fall over. The little jump she made would have been fine otherwise.
>>
>>341576232
>>341576181
So does that mean we may see VorpX becoming irrelevant if nVidia and AMD release some kind of driver optimization for VR approximation?
>>
>>341576756
I wish i had more context of the video.
I came to the conclusion that she was running away from "something" or got too immersed into going places.
Aiming more to the first because she is like crouched and then get up and start moving, but then the cable and natural instinct of keep escaping or going places with a little amount of fucked up balance because of the cable.

I saw reviews from normalfags playing a shooter game when you are literally cornered by hordes of shit coming at you and you have to look all directions and shoot everything, and there was like a butons panel or something to take cover but you could also move arround the "room" which was like a command center with corridors to let those beasts come in. and people got really scared bad, so i wont surprise me that people go so involved that forgot that they just can stop and take off the headstets.
Like a case of NIGGA JUST CLOSE YOUR EYES, but running with $800 in your head and hands.

Im sure that vive got some damage.
>>
>>341577316
I own a Vive.
It looks pretty ok for the Vive HMD unit, because the girl's forearms absorbed the initial shock and the controllers are quite sturdy. The HMD is not fragile.

Jewvidya actually did this with the new series.
There is a video that shows how they implemented new ways to edit how the scene renders, so they can change how the camera works (instead of using a very high FOV, it uses another camera trick), and for triple displays, it makes a fuckton of a difference, and with VR they found a "way" to render the scene just once to optimize the games a fucking lot, because the biggest issue with vr is that, even render twice a vanilla skyrim is pretty hard with a single titanX, and you need to reach 90fps, solid and steady, meaning real 90fps, if there is a drop, it will make you puke.

Vorpx does something similar to tridef with 3d screens, but it wokrs more with the engine it self rather than how it works with the rendered scene and how it process the data.
I dont think novidya will care about that because it will be for old games.

>>341577512
so the girl is still breathing, good to know.
