But this is wrong. There are advantages and disadvantages to using the QTE kill. It's a gameplay mechanic, not just for showing off.
If you use the QTE finisher on certain enemies then you get more health or magic orbs, but less red orbs which are used as xp.
So using the QTE finisher might help you in the moment, but your abilities might be gimped later on since you won't be able to unlock all the new combos. On the other hand, if you're near death, if you don't use the QTE finisher the enemy can fight back as you try to finish it off.
It's objectively good game design desu. Basic risk vs reward.

GoW 1 and 2 were a big fucking deal when they first hit the PS2, they looked good, played at a perfect 60FPS even in 480p mode with widescreen on, and there was a lot of variety in the levels, in that each new zone would showcase an interesting new puzzle or enemy, and the sheer scale and scope of a hyper-grimdark Greece was pretty amazing in the middling 2000's. The tits were a cherry on top
Newer ones haven't captured that same impact circa GoW III, since they've spawned imitators and/or caused the other big hackanslay games to borrow from them in both subtle and not-so-subtle ways, and the series has ran out of ideas to an extent, so a drastic reboot is probably all Sony thought they had left. The overarching gameplay feels like some weird mesh between Tomb Raider and TLOU, with the combat being way too plodding and "cinematic" for what GoW is know for
The setting looks like it's great for the Nordic motif they're going for, but I wish they could refine the fast and intense combat that's been standard for the series instead of doing a massive 180 entirely, it just doesn't feel like it'll work for EVERY encounter just based on the setpiece battles they've shown, Spartan Rage looking like a cinematic instakill is already troubling

Most likely the reason they replaced Kratos' VA was for the same reason Hayter was replaced. They're VOICE actors, and video games are looking now for PERFORMANCE actors. This is why Nolan North, Troy Baker, and Laura Bailey are in so many games now. They do performance acting, meaning full mo-cap, facial capture, and voice work.
Most voice actors only do voice acting, meaning it's a no go for devs who want to capture the full performance. Christopher Judge is a TV actor, so clearly he knows how to do act with more than just his voice.
A lot of video game VAs are also salty right now because they see that the industry is largely headed in that direction, and they know that they can't do that kind of acting.
