Nintendo is a shit company. They forced Wii U owners to choose between buying another expensive console (that will certainly have droughts as bad as Wii U did) or playing a shitty, inferior version of Zelda.
Is this really how they repay their loyal fans for sticking with them when times are tough? By cucking with a shitty Zelda that they promised would be an exclusive? What a huge middle finger.

Since I want to give Nintendo one more chance, I'm going to initially give the game 10 points out of 10 when it comes out.

Then, for every minute of cutscenes and text that they throw at me, I take a point off. I will never tolerate cinematics in my video games, and Nintendo should be able to minimize the disgusting plague on video games known as "story". So surely they can pull it off without the game's score becoming too bad.

Region locking is the pits. I've passed up on games I'd give Nintendo and the producer's money for because of it. At least it's possible to circumvent now with modding. Iwata said that they'd consider no region locking a year or two ago, but who knows if they'll actually make the NX region free.

Except for the fact that everyone here threw hate at Sony and MS and EA and Ubisoft for making nothing but "movie games". And you know what, I think that's a fair sentiment to have. I disliked their conferences too for being too "cinematic-y".

However, if Nintendo wants to prove that Zelda will be better than the latest sony rehash, then they have to completely exorcise the cancer known as "Story" from their game. Is this not a reasonable criticism against the industry trying to be more "hollywood"?

>>341473069

>nigger you made a blog post about you are going to arbitrarily knock off points from zelda (and only zelda)
Whoa, hold up there friend. Let me assure you, I'm holding every game at E3 up to this standard. I care about video games, not movies, so I'm not making exceptions for the latest bloated cash-in or reboot. if Zelda truly is a GOAT game beyond criticism, then it can handle my request easily.

I don't see how that's my problem, anon. Look at the original Zelda on the NES. Very dated, but still an 8/10 game because it had barely any plot. And it's considered absolutely pivotal to the industry and how it evolved from simpler atari-like games.

I normally give a little more lenience, like maybe an hour of cinematics before I start ducking points, but this is Zelda. This is Nintendo's golden egg right behind Mario and pokemon. So I have higher expectations for it, especially when they're hyping it up as the second coming of sliced bread.

I understand the logic you're using, that you bought the disc and therefore everything burned into it should belong to you because it is yours now, but what about all the relics of development from the alpha and beta that remain on the disc? Are you going to be mad that those aren't accessible to you either? Essentially what I'm saying is that when you buy it and drop $60, it's the creator's decision to say what is yours on the disc and your job to figure out what that is before you spend the money. I hate to be part of the gaming community that agrees to just grin and bear the shitty things companies do, but that's just how it is I guess.

>>341475237

>but what about all the relics of development from the alpha and beta that remain on the disc?
That should be available too, maybe to modders. I've seen amazing things done with beta content left out of initial games.

>it's the creator's decision to say what is yours on the disc
Unfortunately for them, I'm the paying customer, so I'm always right. If I say that content is mine, the creator has no legal recourse, and he can either bend to my request, or I simply don't give him my money.

I'm sure all of us work hard for our money. I don't fancy seeing it squandered by greedy devs who decide that content needs to be chopped out A YEAR FROM RELEASE. I have to emphasize that part, where they're actively deciding on DLC before they even have the game finished.

I'm paying for Zelda. If you're chopping out content before the game is even out, to sell later, then to me you've committed fraud.

See, let me tell you something: I don't tolerate it when Sony or MS does this. So I'm not holding a double standard here. I dislike story games and DLC in general, incase you might've thought I was buying a PS4.5 or something.

I've never played that game, but if it was anything like Grand Theft Bored 4, the plateau alone is bigger than it. Which we haven't seen all of.

It cuts off the games with pricey DLC, and that's no loss really.

I haven't handed them the money yet, which is my point. If they are gonna charge me even one penny extra from the base price, then I'm not getting a complete game, so I feel ripped off, and thus I don't waste money on it.
>>
>>341476217

I'm 100% serious.

If you're docking the new Zelda on a better system 1 point per minute of cutscene, then it makes no sense to me why you wouldn't also dock the SNES game AT LEAST 1 point per minute of cutscene.

And so I have no idea why you play anything but platformers, especially Zelda games, since every Zelda game baring the first has at LEAST 10 minutes of cutscenes.

Fuck, even Link's Awakening has ~15 minutes. I have no idea how you slogged through that shit.

So why exactly are you still buying video games?
Literally every developer currently making games are doing this, often to a larger degree cutting out swathes of meaningful content during development and saving it for DLC, big practitioners of this are Bethesda for example.

Anyway are you really going to complain at the lesser of the evils?
>>
>>341476538

I've actually given up on Zelda altogether because of it. I rely mostly on shmups and indie games that aren't pretentious vehicles for telling the story.

I hold them to the same standard. Being a "lesser evil" still makes them evil. As for your first point, I don't buy many games in the year, since the practice is so widespread.

Think of it like DRM. I dislike the PS4, WiiU and Xbox because the hardware is restrictive. I could say steam is better because it's the "lesser of the evils" but as a paying customer, I'd prefer my game to not be locked to any third party software. Get my point?

Define "pricy" one could say the amiibo is more bang for your buck because it can be used on multiple games as well as double as a collectable figure. And on top of that the content associated with it will always be available even when servers go down in the future

Anyway, you don't seem to have a real argument here. I mean you're complaining that your not getting the complete game when the actual game portion is totally in tact and then you go on to accept DLC that is not worse than this just because it's cheaper

There's a lot that I disagree with here, but instead I've got a serious question for you.

What's the difference to you between an expansion pack and DLC? Or do you HONESTLY believe that you deserve the expansion pack if you've purchased the original game, for free?

Especially if it's a standalone expansion pack.
>>
>>341477229

>one could say the amiibo is more bang for your buck because it can be used on multiple games as well as double as a collectable figure
But I don't want the figure, and I want the content for free. That's already 2 problems with amiibos.

>And on top of that the content associated with it will always be available even when servers go down in the future
With Nintendo's stockpile of money, that shouldn't even be in the realm of possibility.

>I mean you're complaining that your not getting the complete game when the actual game portion is totally in tact
How is it in tact? The game isn't even done beta testing, and they already have content they're ripping out. Until a game releases, it's not done. So I have to say no DLC should even be considered here.

>I hold them to the same standard. Being a "lesser evil" still makes them evil.
That's a bit retarded dude. Not everything is so black and white especially with companies.
And that still raises the question as to why you're still playing video games at all because nowadays they cut out a fuck ton of shit from the games to use as DLC.

Saying you rarely buy games doesn't explain that either because you're still buying into those practices and purposely berating the one that impacts the game the least.

Understand?
>>
>>341477476

>What's the difference to you between an expansion pack and DLC?
An expansion pack is usually 5+ years down the line, long after the game came out. It should also be reasonably priced. None of this 60+ dollars for a 5 hour campaign garbage.

>Or do you HONESTLY believe that you deserve the expansion pack if you've purchased the original game, for free
Shovel Knight had no problem delivering that. As did Terraria. And FTL.
>>
>>341477781
>5+ years
that's kind of a stretch, but yeah Expansion packs are more substantial than "DLC"
>>
>>341477760

>And that still raises the question as to why you're still playing video games at all because nowadays they cut out a fuck ton of shit from the games to use as DLC.
I only play the video games where the devs are open about this kind of thing, and they just sort of release it into the internet as a cool little extra. Take Valve for instance. Before they got a boner for hats, they loved sharing beta content, and as an avid fan of modding, I loved sorting through all the stuff and thinking "hmmm, this would make a fun custom map on Counterstrike".

>Saying you rarely buy games doesn't explain that either because you're still buying into those practices
I don't buy from greedy devs. I'll buy from devs who want money, but are at least reasonable about it. That means being open about what they cut out, and letting me have that content.

I'm gonna just get this outta the way really quick: There's no word on what the Amiibo's do in this game.

However, if we're going to judge from current games with amiibo functionality, Wolf Link isn't going to be locked.

Kirby Planet Robobot allows you to use the Smash Kirby and other Amiibo's to instantly get new powers (even UFO), but all powers are available in game (even UFO, though that does have to be unlocked). Amiibo's act as an "easy mode", and that's it.

Starfox Zero allows you to use Fox and Falco Amiibo's to instantly unlock two new Arwing's, but you can also unlock them just by playing the game. The Amiibo's act as instant gratification, nothing's locked behind them.

More than likely, Wolf Link will be naturally attainable in-game after completing certain possibly tasks as a reward, but the Amiibo will likely circumvent those tasks.

>With Nintendo's stockpile of money, that shouldn't even be in the realm of possibility.
You do realise that it's multi million company right?
And that money is used to pay for literally everything from buildings and developers to the plastic used to make the disc right?

As much as people like to say Nintendo won't die in the next 50 or so years that's obviously wrong due to the steadily increasing prices of development and so on.

If anything you should be asking why third party developers feel the need to cut out campaigns for DLC when they have considerably less to pay for

Not necessarily. We also have a mural that features Rito and Oocoo (which the people of the Adult Timeline would have no knowledge of).

We also have the Bridge of Eldin, a ruined Temple of Time (which is nowhere to be seen as of WW based on where Hyrule Castle is), Death Mountain (which later becomes Dragon Roost far above the ocean), the same goes for Kokiri Forest/Forbidden Woods, which jettisons far above the ocean, the geography of BotW doesn't fit in it's entirety or else we would have very elongated and large mountains.

If we are to believe anything, due to Calamity Ganon, that this may be an effort to merge the timelines back together and it in fact takes place after all of the timelines.

File: HYRULE CHILD TIMELINE MAP.png (160 KB, 2062x1024) Image search: [Google]
HYRULE CHILD TIMELINE MAP.png
160 KB, 2062x1024
So I did my best to line up the maps for the child timeline, this includes SS all the way to FSA. Now this isn’t perfect by any means due to map size differences between 2D/3D games, and the fact that say MC will cut off parts of the overall environment, such as Death Mountain.

However, we can take a few things based on this map. Such as, we know that the Temple of Time in OoT is the same Temple of Time in TP, and the Sacred Grounds in SS. We know that. Note that this map is based solely on the Temple of Time and where it fits.

Now a few things of interesting note.

>Faron Woods will eventually become Death Mountain in OoT
>Death Mountain OoT eventually becomes Lake Hylia in FSA
>Lake Hylia in TP likely becomes the Northern Frozen Hyrule in FSA
>Frozen Hyrule in FSA expands from parts of the desert in SS to parts of the Castle Town in OoT
>TP map in generally is far more north than all the other maps
>The Tower of Flames in FSA was likely once the Earth Temple in SS, or close to it
>The Kokiri Forest is either North or is the Minish Woods
>If it is North, that means the Kokiri Forest was Lake Hylia in MC (this fits with the fact that it’s also connected to Zora’s Domain and the waters may have receded over time)
>Lon Lon Ranch was likely a northern most part of Hyrule Town from MC
>The Forest Temple of TP is very close to the Great Tree of SS
>Mt. Crenel eventually becomes the canal that leads from Gerudo Valley to Lake Hylia in OoT (an Earthquake may have happened)
>The Old Temple of Time in SS is likely either repurposed into the Arbiter’s Ground in TP (again map size, sorry), or it connects to the Cave of Ordeals (this fits with the underground method used to get there in SS)
>The Eastern Temple of FSA might have once been Kakariko Village/Shadow Temple
>Somewhere along the way Gerudo Desert/Valley massively shrinks or is lost to Earthquakes/Time (Ganondorf coveted the wind I suppose, but that’s another timeline)
>>

>>
>>341481337
So quite a few things can be determined just off the rough geography of where things should be and match up, again, it’s incredibly hard to match up things due to size differences, but in general most things do tend to be close enough or rather spot on, such as Death Mountain in MC and OoT. So it’s an interesting thing to note that Death Mountain is also North in Breath of the Wild, meaning it would likely fit somewhere around the Tower of Flames/Earth Temple or potentially the empty space between that and Snowpeak.

So I'm not sure if anyone is even interested in this or me doing the Failure/Adult timelines as well with their respective Hyrules, but I was curious and how things roughly matched up.

Then there's Mario being a rehash when they since the DS they've only been making one NSMB per system while there are games that have had three or four over the course of one or two years with no changes in gameplay.

Basically people good Nintendo up to ridiculous standard that they don't good anyone else up tol

>we all can invoke that same freedom and criticize you. and we deem you a faggot
Fair enough, but I still have the right to criticize the game even if you think I'm "retarded" or "a faggot".

If you cherish the right to criticize a game you don't like, then just remember that. Even if you hate me, we all still have that right. I'm sorry if "customer rights" has been demonized as a bad thing in this industry.

Fire Emblem is literally the only game you've played, isn't it.

Stop arguing sperglords and talk about Zelda, fucking christ.

You do know what "in general" means right?
I mean this is primary school shit dude you should know this.

Anon, Terraria is basically 2D DLC for Minecraft, which itself was computerized DLC for Lego's.
>>

Fags like you ruin this for people who actually like the game.

>Bokoblins will use literally anything possible to kill you, including a rock on the ground
>Bokoblins will actively snipe you while you're fighting other Bokoblins
>an unarmed Bokoblin can walk over and hurl a nearby explosive barrel at you while you're fighting another Bokoblin
>Bokoblin scouts can alert other Bokoblins to your presence if they spot you

This is much, much better than anything in Skyward Sword. It's not even funny.

>Problem is you haven't produced a single valid criticism other than "they're finally doing what the rest are, shun them!"
I'm shunning the rest though. Nobody is getting special treatment. The inverse is what seems to be happening, the "it's okay when ninty does it" problem. I'm simply making it clear that I can't accept it no matter what company is behind it.

>>341482253

>faggot
please keep the slurs to /pol/. I would appreciate that.

>>341482589

You make that sound like a bad thing. A company with 1/1000th of Nintendo's stocked up money reserves can release DLC for free, so the big N should be able to at least be a little more lenient, especially when Zelda is a guaranteed system seller.

SRPG's and RPG's aren't close.

That's like trying to say Skyrim's a platformer.

Just wait I bet there will be moments of the Techno Crab Beamos things and the Bokoblins attacking you all at once, so it's gonna turn into backflips, dashes, and time slow the game. Gonna be real fun.

I played like 35 minutes of the demo, though it was mostly in the overworld. I could clear up a few things if anyone wants to know, though most of it is probably stuff people here already caught onto.
>>
>>341483045
I wouldn't really call that the Bridge of Eldin, it's not big enough and doesn't match up with the geography at all. TP's map is far more north than the rest of them.
>>
>>341482814
Are you being retarded on purpose or what?
You should understand that all of these RPGs have common elements that bind them together, yes there are subgenres but that doesn't mean they don't have similarities. Which is why you can speak about them in general, the similarities outweigh the differences

When people stop buying this in droves, then we'll stop seeing it. I wouldn't hold my breath.
>>
>>341476931
You're retarded. Instead of spending 100% development time on the Wii U they spent 50/50% or so on both. I've never felt so cucked before in my life buying the Wii U.

At least I don't have to pay for the game as Wii U will be properly hacked by then.

I'm so damn excited for this game.
I'm so excited for it to come out, and for me to not play it, and for me to go on /v/ and see all the crying angry nintendo fans who have gotten cucked by the bull again.
You people will get excited about anything. They haven't shown you a thing that's special or unique. All of it is common in AAA titles today. Nintendo has been behind for more than a decade, and just now they are going into "open world," and you people are so excited, as though it's groundbreaking.

The potential energy from the sheer outflow of disappointment that will exist following the release of this game is gargantuan. If you put that potential in a circuit, you could power the world for centuries. If you rose an object from the earth the size of your average horse to a point at which the difference in potential gravitational energy was bigger than the potential energy of this impending disappointment, you would have moved the object so far from earth that it would instead fall towards another star, at least 2 or 3 light years away to be far enough.

I hate all of you. I can not wait until this board is ruined by post upon post upon post of nintenshitters leaving their shitty company forever for consoles and systems that are worth their time, like sony and PC.

Of course.

Don't have a webm but go to GameXplain's 40 minute video of the game and go to about 38:00
>>
>>341482814
Not that anon but SRPGs and RPGs are very close, especially when it comes to battle systems. SRPGs are literally just RPG battle systems with a tactical element overlaid to them reminiscent of board games; that's where SRPG gets the name.
Of course there are weird exceptions to the rule like Valkyria Chronicles that start to move away from RPGs and move towards action games but those are the exceptions, not the norm.

This is one of the worst posts I've ever seen on the internet.
There is greater than a 100% chance that this is a bait post. I am more than perfectly certain.
The chance that you just don't know what you're talking about and got unlucky is negative.

Y'know, OP, if you wanted another Nintendo hate thread, you could have just said it outright.

Wojack has destroyed /v/.

How does wolk link and not wolf link be in the same place at the same time?
>>
>>341479621
They make the product known before you buy it. You can't buy the product and get mad when it's something you didn't want. The details are there. They have dlc and they have story so don't buy it.
>>
>>341484340
Gamers destroyed /v/, just as they did every other game discussion. It's either complete praise or complete shitposting, they've ruined the very hobby they love with constant faggotry as they've gotten older.

Most people that shitpost would be happy and excited to be playing a Zelda game like this or a RE game like 7 or a variety of other games people would like to bitch about, as opposed to them sitting there going "It's shit famalam dingdong, fun is a buzzword lololol." It's just flat out stupidity.

The Link from TP is probably not the same Link from BotW so it's possible, even if they're both incarnations of Link

The same way the Hero of Time and Hero of Twilight where in the same place at the same time in Twilight Princess.
