Does adding gamma correction to a game have any impact on performance or memory? Do you need to render at higher than 8 bits per channel to avoid banding?

There's a lot of material available for free, provided by unreal, which you can use and learn from. Worked out great for my small project.

I took them from Red Eclipse, which seems to consider them gibs.
Maybe I'll try to make specific gibs for entity by deleting some of it's vertices, then make it reference a "bloodied" texture.
