Movement is slow to the point where it's a detriment to your ability to clear trivial gaps, even while 'running'. There's two homing attacks for literally no reason and they don't even have the decency to tell you when you need to use which. The speed from a dash pad doesn't last more than half a second before you start decelerating again

If the physics were accurate and the levels were as good as the originals no one would hate sonic 5 except unleashedfag.
Boost would be easily reconcilable with Genesis/adventure style gameplay if you weren't invincible so you had to roll into a ball and cancel the boost to kill enemies.
Homing attack would be fine if enemies sometimes did things that would make jumping on them or rolling through them better options

It's good but not amazing at all.
It loses to generations purely based on production value. It's the cheapest and most artistically sterile sonic since sonic 4.
Parkour is cool. Homing attack changes are mostly superficial, kick attack wasn't worth the unintuitive bullshit factor and powered up homing attack is a good idea but too powerful on bosses. Bosses weren't great. Final boss/ending was incredibly half assed. Spin dash isn't the spin dash and it's not a reskinned boost either, its just weird and interacts with the parkour in pretty cool ways I guess. Run and parkour being the same button leads to some awkwardness like not holding run when trying to precicely jump to a platform and dying cause you forgot that you need parkour to grab ledges.

You've got things completely fucked up.
They did not update the games at all. The games are the same as they've always been: ROMs in an emulator. They only really updated the emulator they're running in, not the ROMs. There's no reason to think they wouldn't or shouldn't release the remastered versions just because they recently updated the emulator. The only thing it'll break is mod support, but most fans will probably take the trade-off.
The "main" Sonic game this year isn't getting announced until the party in July. However, there is another title that's getting announced next week.
Sonic Anniversary is a collection of every Sonic game up to SA2. Sonic 1 and 2 are the Taxman versions. All the GameGear games are included. Knuckles Chaotix, Sonic Shuffle and the Saturn version of Sonic 3D aren't.

I finished this trashy game because it was so hilariously bad and that entertained me. Kinda similar with Sonic 2006, but I stopped at the End of the world thing. In SA 2 the writing is attrocious, the camera is really annoying at times and sometimes even the oh so superb Sonic/Shadow levels are crap because of the kinda wonky lock-on and just falling through the rails. The difficulty curve is all over the place, with most of it just being retardedly easy. The treasure hunting parts were attrociously boring.
I actually enjoyed the shooting parts the most. The fucking shooting parts in a Sonic game.
You know what, the sad thing is, in a month or two the next run of the mill SA 2 shitter will come along and act just the same as you just did and I have to write this shit up again.
