To be fair we don't really know what the gameplay for God of War: Bastard Raising is.
All we know is that there is an RPG and crafting system involved, the boy will be with you the whole game, and the combat is still, light, heavy, grab with magic attacks with a rage mode.
All of this is from both the trailer and an IGN interview with the games director.

It's a show for stockholders first and foremost, so they'll show stuff that seems with it and like it will sell a lot. I actually think in the context of this game it works. God of War's original games were overrated, 1 was fantastic and the others afterwards were basically already tired and stale. May as well reboot it and try some over the shoulder character action and see if it can be done, put in a father-son thing to make Kratos less of an unlikable cunt.
If you want character action just play Bayonetta 2 since it actually does it properly.
