Pretty much. You can save Catwoman without doing all of the Riddler shit but if you do all the Riddler shit you can fight him while he's in a robot suit or something.
Origins has a shit open world (it doesn't feel like a city) but some nice additions to the gameplay, my favorite is martial artist enemies, they should have expanded more on that idea.
Knight is the best overall, except for one key thing: shit bossfights.
I'll say this every chance i have: this series has still much to give, they can still be greatly improved. I hope WB has at leas two more planned.

they build up side missions like pyg only for it to be a qte. the final boss is a cutscene. they build up deathstroke and have him shit talk you over the radio only for that to be another tank fight. when you finally do get to the knight its the same exact fight as deadshot was in city but instead they do it three times in a row. they present the islands with a huge skyline to fly and glide around in and they added cool grapnel boosts to facilitate making gliding more fast and fun, yet you're still forced into the tank. you actually have to lower the tank underground for a fucking sewer mission. and let's not forget the story: "knight will be a new character" which turned out be a horseshit.

Origins open world is shit, it doesn't feel like a city. It would have been beter if it was level based instead of open world.
From Knight loved: fear takedowns (don't feel then overpowered, and they are very "Batmany"), throwing batarangs while gliding, new powered gadgets, new stealth obstacles (medicals, guys with anti detective mode suits, flying drones) and, of course, the batmobile. Shit boss battles, that's for sure.

I would borrow some things from that game to give them to Arkham: the optic cable and the ability to climb on pipes and vertical ropes (to more stealth, the grappling gun in Arkham s too noisy).
Arkham still did the fear thing better, the stealth parts of Begins were too much scripted. Also, it relied on the goons drooping their guns: if i was scared of something, i wouldn't drop my best chance to survive.

You got a number of side missions to complete before you can get the true ending. Each time you discover a new person to go after, it adds a progress bar to your hub. It works pretty damn well now, but it went from basically being unplayable to unoptimized for PC.
I played through it back when I had the 970 and it got heavily patched, and only a few things gave me frame issues:
>A mandatory batmobile section later in the game with a lot of particle effects.
>Some of the Penguin sections due to the effects.
>One late game section that had a lot of reflective surfaces and enemies.
And even then, it was mostly in the 30s and still playable. Part of it might have been the NVIDIA gameworks stuff (I have the Smoke and Fog effect turned off still, the paper one is also what I suspect caused issues with the Penguin sections). I played through the DLC on my 980 Ti and had almost no frame issues outside the odd zipline hiccup.
