I need a fucking decent city building or survival game where I can take a wooded area and turn it from a merciless killer into a comfy area. Bonus points if it's a survival game that lets me build up a little population. Don't care if it's early access to be honest I have a wicked itch to scratch.

Actually when I pirated it one of my favorite features of the game was turning scrap and shit into little towns. Shame it was a half assed feature designed around consoles (IE not a top down builder), and all you let me build was fucking junk town shitholes.

Banished sounds right up your alley. Make sure to get a few mods too, it doesn't have a lot of vanilla content.

Dwarf fortress is probably your best bet.
It's no where near as hard to play as it looks.

I guess banished really is my best bet. I might try out dwarf fortress as well, I had a brief period where I was getting into that but then something happened in my mine and I was done.
