Why I am a depressed gamer:
-I am poor
-I get my consoles and games 5-10 years after they are released
-My computer is dying and cannot run games anymore
-even when my computer worked, I had a very limited selection of games to play due to it being an outdated computer
-I have never played a game while the online community was still active
-I have never played an online game during it's prime
-I really want to cosplay and go to conventions and meet my favorite streamers and youtubers. I really want to see people cosplaying characters from my favorite games. By the time I'll have the money to go to a convention, all of my favorite Internet celebrities will be long gone . No one would be cosplaying Overwatch ( I don't play, but I like watching the gameplay, cinematic shorts, and fan animations) and whatever FOTM game by the time I can go to a convention
-my friends are playing all of the games I wish I could play
-even if I won the lottery this month, I would have no one to play with and all of the online games I want to play will be dead by then.
At least I'll always have Doom wads.

Not everyone is a university post-grad student . Not everyone has the time to be messing around with volunteer work and internships. Some people have non-legal obligations to care for the sick in the family which prevents them from going to college and
Not caring about new shit shouldn't necessarily make you depressed. There's likely still plenty of old games you'd enjoy that you have yet to play.

I'm also poor and did not get a console that was the current generation till the 360. There are plenty of old games that keep active online communities for years, I had no problem finding players in unreal tournament and starcraft playing on my shitty computer in like '05.
Now i work 50 hours a week, raising my son, loving my wife, still have time for games, and getting to this point took A LOT of work
Unless you're born to a rich family, you have to work for everything. You sound like someone that gave up on trying to be happy after 1 or 2 setbacks
Only thing that looked cool for me was bannerlord. Everything else looked boring and i never cared for zelda
Haven't cared about new games since Diablo III destroyed any hope or hype I had for games, it was such a soul-crushing disappointment when it came out that I just quit giving a shit about announcements and now I just stick to games that people say are good months after they've been released.

I finally built a computer to play modern games because I've stuck with nintendo my whole life, but the power supply didn't turn on so I had to wait a week to return it. My sister's bf was gonna help me put it in but because I had a freak out she's mad at me at won't let him help.

Its a cliche about adulthood, but ever since I got a full time job I find it so hard to get into games. The best games usually require a big time investment to get immersed in. But after working all day I'm fucking tired and dreading going to work the next day.

I also dont have a lot of money and when I see all the cool new games, I seethe with jealousy. And I have a job. But its hard to justify spending hundreds of dollars and a game console and 50 bucks per game.
The new Zelda looks fucking cool but I dont think I'll ever have the chance to play it. Makes me depressed.
I wish new videogames were as interesting as my nights dreams.
