I hope it's not that predictable, there's other ways to draw out even stronger emotional responses. Like having it fix its wings and leave the boy at the end, or maybe it gets older and stops being friendly like wild animals tend to do. The music and their reputation painted the perfectly comfy Japanese spirited game about the purest form of friendship, a man and his birdrat(dog etc). It had the Ghibli feel to it.
The newer trailers are darker though so I'm skeptical now but it should still be really amazing given how talented Team Ico are at making animations. That animal will truly feel like a living creature and you can interact with it. Ico and SOTC both had world class AI yet Trico evidently puts both of those games to shame when it comes to AI and animations.

Trico's feathers are more numbered now but smaller, I think it looks a lot worse.
Fog and color grading was changed drastically. Environments look fullbright now most of the time or just bad.
They added more bloom to the game and it's not the good kind.
Less particle effects(dust and dirt for example).
Here's smoke being downgraded and you can clearly see the lighting is completely downgraded as he climbs up the tail. Basically 10x less shadowing now.
