Civilization 6 gameplay was shown at E3. What do you guys think?

Needs spies, religion, trade, etc.
>>
>>341348426
OP here, looks good imo. I played Civ 1, 3, loved 4, and hated 5. The graphics was disappointing but I got hyped a little a week ago after watching this.

Spies, religion, trade is in the game. Did you watch the E3 video? He mentions spies, and trade. Religion is confirmed elsewhere. He even says that he plans to have all the features they've built on with expansions with previous games from the beginning with civ 6.

Info shown:

Wonders:

Stonehenge says it needs to be adjacent stone, and on flat land. It gives +2 faith and a free prophet, and allows you to found a religion there instead of a holy site.

Oracle must now be built on hills. It gives 1 faith and 1 culture and great person points for: Scientists, Prophets, Artists, Admirals, Engineers, Generals, and merchants. Great people require 20% less faith.

Great Library Gives scientist points and +2 science. Has 2 great work of writing slots and gives a tech boost to all ancient and classical techs.

Pyramids need flat desert and give 2 culture, a free builder and give all builders an additional charge.

Hanging Gardens must be built near a river and give a 15% growth boost in all cities.

Mahabodhi: Must be built in forest next to holy site. Gives +4 faith and +1 Great Prophet Point

Hagia Sophia: Must be built on flat land adjacent to a holy site. Must have founded a religion. Missionaries and Apostles get 1 additional charge. +4 faith and +2 Great Prophet Points

Eiffel Tower: Must be built on flat land adjacent to city center. All cities gain +2 appeal.

Venetian Arsenal: Must be built adjacent to coast and industrial district. Receive a second naval unit each time you train a naval unit.

Colosseum: Must be built adjacent to entertainment district. +1 culture +1 amenity. +1 additional culture and amenity for something a bit too blurry for me to read. Sorry.

Buildings:

Water Mill: +1 food +1 Production, Rice and Wheat give +1 food. City must be built on river.

Monument: +2 culture

Granary: +1 food +2 housing

Shrine: +2 faith, 1 Great Prophet point

Barracks note that they cannot be built if your encampment already has a stable.

Shipyard: +1 Great Admiral points, 15% production for nautical units (I assume, the words were pretty blurred.

Holy Site Prayers: Converts 15% of production to faith then gives great prophet points when completed after a set amount of time.
>>
>>341348574
Looks pretty to me, the artstyle just makes her look a bit weird.
>>
>>341352103
Districts:

Encampment District: In addition to containing military buildings, gives 1 great general point

Theater District: Adjacency bonus for wonders (large) and other districts (small)

Holy Sites produce both faith and Great Prophet points, meaning prophets no longer come with faith, but are like other great people. Adjacency bonus for: Natural Wonders (large), mountains (medium), UNIMPROVED forest (small)

Industrial District: Production bonus for Mines/Quarries (large) and districts (minor)

Spaceport: Allows building of parts for science victory. Cannot be built on hills.

Civics Shown:

Diplomatic League: First envoys to a city state count as 2.

Charismatic Leader: +2 points towards earning envoys

Retainers: +1 amenities for garrisoned units

Maritime Industries: +100% production towards ancient classical naval units

Survey: Double experience for recon units

Discipline: +5 strength vs barbarians for melee units

Meritocracy: +1 culture for each specialty district

Colonization: +50% production towards settlers

Land Surveyors: 20% price reduction for purchasing tiles

Caravansaries: +2 gold from trade routes

Urban Planning: +1 production in all cities

God King: +1 Faith +1 gold in the capital

Literary Tradition: +2 great artist points per turn

Revelation: +2 great prophet points per turn

Inspiration: +2 great scientist points per turn

Other:

Traders seem to give a boost only to their home city when trading with the capital (screenshot shows +1 food +1 Production and +2 gold for the second city, but nothing for the capital).

I'm warming up to the artstyle, it looked like a downgrade from Civ 5 until you realize that in reality you'll almost always just look at the tiles from the highest view possible.

Fact is though Firaxis won't get that game's shit together until the 1st Expansion Pack at minimum. This was true for Civilization V, it was true for Civilization IV, and I honestly don't know about III and II since IV was my first Civ.
>>
>>341348223
civ v except the cities take up multiple tiles and great britain is only six tiles wide? no fucking thanks.
>>
>>341352482
>>341350928

There are definitely cringe, awkward, and funny moments this E3. A couple in the Civ 6 video alone.
>>
Maybe I'm not remembering this clearly, but the games have always had female leaders. Did she think they were suddenly just not going to show up here?

The guy was up there showing off new mechanics, which is what the Civ crowd cares most about. Just let him focus on that for the presentation.
>>
>>341352684

>>
I was never able to get into 3D Civ games. Not sure why.
>>
>>341353647
You speed up tech, culture, and other progress by doing specific things. Exploring something, coming in contact with a new civ, making a trade deal, but only when trying to research that tech.

Where's the problem in that. Offers an optional bit of min/maxing that's sensible.
>>
>>341352869
What do you mean great britain is only 6 tiles wide?
>>
>>341354407
He's making stupid shit up. If the world map had Britain 6 tiles wide (and proportionally tall), that would be a marvel of technology. In other civ games you'd be lucky if it's 3.
>>
>>341348223
>we have simplified the way roads work
>it was too hard, so we removed the need to plan out tile improvements. Now they happen instantly.
>graphics that probably makes tumblr cringe

Couldn't be less interested in this game, desu.
>>
>>341355315
If you looked at the video you'd know they deliberately tackled these complaints but I guess you're not interested enough in civ to even fiend info about it which begs the question what are you even doing in this thread
>>
>>341355315
>Roads literally work the exact same way but instead of using a worker you use a merchant
>No, the planning is still there but now you have charges, making builders more valuable. Meaning more turns and production is spent on them. Meaning if you fuck up planning you need to spend more time making builders. Yes, improvements happen instantly.

>>
>>341355945
4
>>
>>341355945
4 really. 5 changed too much to the point where people grew too accustomed to it and got too far saying it's the best in the series. It's a good game on its own, but 4 is still better as in the more fleshed out Civ game.

4 also has a gigantic modding community that is still going strong, while 5 had little comparability for mods which prevents some replayability
>>
>>341355945
5
>>
>>341355315
>muh realism
Also, waiting eternity for roads and improvements is not difficult at all.

The beginning of a city can be the most boring and tedious part of the game and they're just cutting down on it.

Also, roads and waiting for your workers to stop wasting your gold for 100 years wasn't fun either.
