New Vegas was a direct sequel to F1/2 and it actually FELT like it. It had much better dialogue, many more options to complete quests, MORE quests, does a much better job of making you care about the world, and takes the subject matter seriously.

It's basically going from town to town making the world better (or not) Getting a rag tag party and slowly working your way up to being the best in the wasteland.
Heres a small tale of my exploits:

>Best party member is a tribal with an smg
>Deals 100 dmg a turn
>Needs help saving his sister from slavers
>we begin an anti slaver campaign
>Kill their entire main base to find the location of a smaller camp holding his sister
>We take out small slaver camps around the wasteland till we stomp out the last small base
>Save his sister
>get let into his tribe
>Do some favors for them
>Fast forward way later
>In ncr
>Ranger sees me and immediately buys me a drink thanking me for my anti slaver works
>Lets me join the rangers after a very short easy quest
>Sheriff in another town complements me for being a ranger
It's stuff like that. Note that this all just sort of happened organically, and took a good few hours to accomplish.
