At home in 1998,
It's always been casual anon.
>>

I was like 10 and Gold and silver came out.
>>
>>341278785
Bubble, ember, etc. Were literally just a waste of time.
>>

Holy fuck, grade school was the tightest shit.

Isn't it great to not have to use your brain at all?
>>

isn't that why people play it?

>>

I think I was on the first grade in school when it first came out, why?
>>
>>341280792
I long for the days in which I wasn't blindingly self conscious of myself and my actions.
>>
This is actually normal in most RPGs, I'm surprised it took Pokemon 20 years to implement such a basic feature.
>>
>>341281545

Op is bitching that the 3 measures of how hard you hit, are now given to you before you even attack.

No more having to learn, guess or try to understand things.
>>
>>341282809

You can have it again, its called confidence you pathetic shit.
>>
>>341283093
What RPGs? In most games where you have a frost bolt, and a fire elemental you just have to figure it out for yourself by casting it.
>>
>>341283616
no matter how much confidence you have it will not bring back the feeling of blissful ignorance.
>>
>>341278785
Parrots can memorize things, it's not exactly proof of great skill or intellect.
>>
>>341283678
SMT games come to mind.
>>
>>341283130

Weve had the type info. Honestly it's easy as fuck to memorize anyways the strategy in Pokemon is more about making a good team. But yeah, could have done without the change.
>>
>>341278785
it'll have a toggle
>>
>>341283678
most RPGs don't have like 15 elements and Gym Shoe type attacks be super effective against Needled Tree Type pokemons
>>
>>341278785
When was Pokemon ever not casual?
>>
>>341281545
Yes, as in "not super effective nor not very effective".
>>

wait, do people actually do this?
>>

When you played with the cards, by the official rules.

>>
>>341284170
When I was a child Pokemon was a hardcore game for hardcore gamers such as myself just me and my bro Charizard with a level 2 Pidgey for Fly grinding the Elite 4
>>
You know Pokemon is a kid's game, right?
>>
It's okay when Nintendo does it!
>>
>>341283130
>No more having to learn, guess or try to understand things.
People haven't learned the type chart by trial and error in 15 years, grandpa. It's not meant to be a secret.
Do you also complain when a Street Fighter game contains a reference for combo inputs?
>>
>that battle royale

So it ends to moment someone dies? What's stopping me from bringing in an Electrode for an instant self destruct win?

Golly, it's almost like Pokemon is a game marketed towards kids!
>>
>>341284571
I thought it was once someone lost all three Pokemon.
>>
Note: The game only gives this to you after you've fought a pokemon before (thus putting it in your pokedex).

Not that ANY discussion about this feature is relevant to the /v/ audience because they've either memorized various type weaknesses or just fucking google it anyway if they're unsure. Are you going to pretend you experimented with Fairy type and didn't just pull up a wiki page?
>>
So in 1995?
>>
>>341284571
You can have up to 3 pokemon.
>>
>>341278785
>streamlining features that were already there
>making the negative status effects actually visible
>bad things

Yes, it was so fun remembering how many times a pidgey threw sand attack at me.
>>
>>341284007
In SMT the data for new enemies is unknown and effectiveness is recorded once you figure it out. This seems like you don't have to do any work at all.
>>
IT DOESNT GIVE INFO UNTIL YOU'VE FOUGHT THE POKEMON BEFORE
>>
>>341278785
*Where were you when Pokémon got rid of a bunch of unnecessary artificial difficulty?
>>
>>341283904

Ignorance is over rated, its about being strong enough to face and handle your issues and move forward. Once you've done this anyone who hasn't you'll understand to be childish and smaller minded. You're stuck in the limbo between ignorance and strength.
>>
>>341284571
>it's a /v/ pretends to know shit about Pokémon episode
Are you retarded? It ends when someone loses all three Pokémon. Besides, Explosion is fucking garbage now and Electrode couldn't kill jackshit with it even before it was garbage.

>>341278785
Well if were going to make it this easy, might as well remove choosing moves altogether, the pokemon decides, that pretty liberal, pokemon are people too now, equal rights just like my wifes choice to have 3 partners, how about the game chooses the most optimal move and does that automatically, hell why even move the character lets automate walking, talking and interaction, let the player really focus on the immersion. My step son loves to watch those "lets play" people on youtube, they make so much money we should cut out the middleman and just release a video of someone playing the game as the game

Pokemon is more well-known and popular than all of those listed though.

This makes sense. Back in gen 1 and 2, it was obvious what type Pokemon were, so it was clear what was effective and what was not. Now that Pokemon are glorified Digimon, it's basically impossible to tell what typing they have. As a veteran of the series I found myself guessing what moves would be effective most of the time in gen 5 and 6.

Even then I should we have to explain this is a children's game it held with us sure, but for fuck sake anon you're an adult now.
>>
It just shows how effective the attack is. It doesn't matter for regular game since you kick everybodys ass easily anyway and everybody who plays competitive knows the types anyway and those who don't will still fail because there are dozens of other factors to consider.

This changes nothing, the main story line is so easy you could do it with just about anything and ignore SEs all you want.

That's based on an actual introduced species in Hawaii turned invasive, the Mongoose. Which means there's probably going to be a new rat pokemon present, or they're referring to rattata. That's pretty based.

It's about japanese super heroes. They are often bug themed, while fighting type is also closely related to justice stuff. So they don't really work well against each other (though both are SE against dark, which is "evil" in japanese).

This would have been a valid complaint were there not as many fucking types and type combinations as there are nowadays. I've been playing since gen 2 and even I have a hard time remembering which types and combinations are weak to what sometimes.

This makes no difference to an adult, as they either already have it memorized or can look up the typing on the internet. Just telling you makes it more convenient, not more casual.

For the kiddos, though, it kind of cheapens the experience. Discovering what's super effective and what's not effective through trial and error made the game satisfying and exciting as a kid.
