While the game's skeletal frame is heavily patterned after DeS, combat itself is a completely different animal. Imagine little bits of Souls/BB, Onimusha, Ninja Gaiden, Way of the Samurai, Genji and Bushido Blade put into a blender, but it still manages to feel distinctly like its own thing.
Evasion feels good, but it's not nearly as i-framey as Souls. You need to be FAR more careful with your dodges, particularly that there's a far bigger emphasis on stamina management than Souls.
