I think the best way to advertise VR would be immersive experiences like Gran Turismo Sport, Ace Combat, a new Wipeout game, RIGS, first person horror game, etc. shit like that. And those games can also play just fine without VR so it's killing two birds with one stone.
I think the fastest way for VR to die right off is to advertise it using an hour long Batman demo, walking simulators, some first person FFXV trash (seriously what the fuck was that?), or ONE LEVEL of a Star Wars game.

I actually bought Oculus. It has a really outstanding first impression. It really is amazing.
But I dont know if this is the case for everyone, but - I get terrible motion sickness after 20-30 minutes of using it. And thats just the static games, I cant imagine how anything more fast-paced (like FPS) would feel.
So until they fix that, and I dont know how, its gonna be just a gimmick. Dont get me wrong, I love my Oculus and I use it every day, but it will never replace the usual monitor + mouse experience.

We found a pretty neat way to bypass the constraints on your own room, I think. And other devs have been coming up with their own clever solutions. I have to recommend ours: Cosmic Trip. It's still pretty early but you'll get a few hours out of it in its current state and I promise you'll have a ton of fun.
You should also try the Budget Cuts' demo (free). Try out Tilt Brush if you haven't, and Job Simulator is a must. Both came with the Vive for free so he should have them on his account. Also try out fantastic contraption I'd you're into puzzles. It's sort of like world of goo but on steroids.

I've personally released Scribble Space (my first game ever) and Forgotten Lore (just released Early Access).
The company I'm working for released Nova 111 on Steam and every console and we just released Cosmic Trip in Early Access. I can tell you right now the numbers are all accurate on Steamspy down to 1,000.
I get why the Steamspy guy wouldn't want to give 100% confirmation but hey, every dev I've asked in person has said it's also accurate for their games as well.
